It’d have to be. Otherwise how could the ground be level if we were on the side of a sphere?

      Check and mate. 🫳🎤

I enjoy how you had to hold it very specifically this way around so that none of the spirit level bubbles were in the middle.

Well, where I live in the world (North Carolina, USA), I would imagine I’m somewhere between the middle of the ball (equator) and the top of the ball (Arctic). So yeah, that happens to be a position where none of the bubbles are in the middle. 😊

You actually don’t need to imagine… most maps indicate what the angle should be.

The latitude on the map matches the angle between the North Star and the horizon. It’s just a weird coincidence that maps are like that.

my two cents are, for what it’s worth,

that no-one really believes in a flat earth.

they just revel in creating dissension

and crave all the ensuing attention,

so let’s let it remain in that realm of mirth.

      Nah.

So about 8 years ago I’d never heard of such a thing as flat earth and I’m out with a friend getting twisted up and he says he has a gaff we can go to and he can sell a bit of coke and we can get sniffed up there too.

We get to this shitty flat (not judging I’ve lived in shitty pads and after all we are getting fucked up so can’t judge) and there I meet quite possibly the most intellectually challenged 3 people I’ve ever met (again I’m not genius but I do like to think I have critical thought).

This one girl starts chatting to me about flat earth, not in a way just to be different, but genuinely believed it. Imagine my face when I’m like this can’t be happening, and start to question why it is flat which they can’t really articulate and I just wanted the world to end to get me out of this conversation.

Point being stupid people exist and will believe this shit. Even if the most prominent people are doing it for a grift.

Nope - I’ve known true believers - while contrarianism is a big motivator, the beliefs are sincere… and from that level of conspiracism, it’s a short walk to Nazism.

Actually can happen if the little ampule is misaligned in the housing. Easy to test for, turn the level around, if it reads level one way but not another it’s not a good level. Relatedly: Don’t buy spirit levels or measuring tools at Harbor Freight.
