Seriously though, Trump is conning his supporters but there can be a case made that doing so in such bad faith could lead to a lawsuit. Everyone who donated to his campaign can join a class action lawsuit to get their money back.

I don’t think that most of them would believe he lied to them if he told them to their faces. They’d come up with some brain bender about how he’d been blackmailed by the Deep State and was only saying ti to say some child in Iowa…

Correct, because admitting that he’s lied to them would rupture the very foundation of their beliefs. If he lied about that, what else has he lied about?

Instead they believe it’s all a conspiracy. And that gives them power because it makes them feel “privileged” to know the “truth” as they want to believe it.

As they have… repeatedly and ad nauseam.

Edit: I remember, a few years ago, there was an infomercial for like a coin collection made featuring him and I think even a chess set. Everybody is capitalizing on that cult of personality.

Ever heard of “Trump Bucks”? People are literally paying real money with the belief that these are legal tender or will be in the near future. Retail workers have to deal with people trying to buy stuff with these fake bucks all the time and then argue with the employee when told it’s not real money

Trump supporters are happy to donate to his defense. They truly believe he’s innocent, the election was stolen from him, and he’s their hero and savior who will reestablish justice.

I think that goes without saying. The court case is nonstop free press for Trump leading up to the election, and unfortunately would probably net him some undecided votes if he wins it. It’s basically just 24/7 advertising to his base.

I fear we’re seeing a repeat of 2016 in that regard. I wish the media would just stop talking about him until there’s a verdict.

Convicted Sex Offender Treason Trump did not have 6 court cases against him in 2016. He has already been found guilty of sexual assault by a jury but the Nazi affiliated media didn’t report it.

More nonstop bad press for Convicted Sex Offender Treason Trump.

and unfortunately would probably net him some undecided votes if he wins it.

Pretty doubtful. He has about 6 active court cases. Ridiculous to spin that as a good thing. He is not only going to be losing he is going to prison.

It’s basically just 24/7 advertising to his base.

Those idiots are already idiots. Imagine how depressing it will be on election day to vote for a candidate who is sitting in prison.

It’s crazy. I think every rational person in the US knows that trump should be in jail for a long, long time. But there is zero chance of him going to jail. At best (which would still be something given my lack of expectations) he’ll end up on house arrest. Which he’ll violate and nothing will happen.

I’d be grateful for a “can’t be president anymore” for starters. Though I would prefer to also see him rot in jail for the rest of his life. Then again, even if he’ll probably go to some cushy high profile jail.

If it’s just on the merits, he can’t win it.

The entire process of them asking for documents back is heavily documented, and at the point you’ve got FBI agents with a warrant walking out with classified documents…. As incontrovertible proof he lied about not having them and was actively refusing to return them.

It can do two things at once, it is bankrolled his defense and also trying to win election. Particularly since he would be shielded from prosecution while in office.

This is like writing an article titled “New signs campaign is designed to raise money” like yes it is doing that, but you’re just deciding that’s the main thing the campaign is doing.

The article does say “partially” in the body, just not the title so they are acknowledging that it’s both. But this is of course very old news, he’s been doing it since his first campaign. Still, it’s probably good to reiterate it as he does it further and for people who don’t pay as much attention.
