And spanking can lead to a broken back and permanent paralysis if applied with extreme force such as beginning the blow by jumping off the second floor landing.

Oh is it ever. Both my partner and myself love it… but we’re safe about it. Only blood chokes, no windpipe. Only medium/gentle, and never for extended periods of time.

It takes minutes to actually choke someone to death. You’re not going to die if you’re choked for ten seconds.

        Nope.

Strangulation during sex carries a variety of risks. These range from effects such as bruising and vomiting to brain injury and death.

Although rare, strangulation is the leading cause of death in consensual BDSM play.

There’s no evidence there is any safe way to undertake strangulation. Notably, strangulation can cause injury without leaving any marks and sometimes negative consequences don’t develop until well after the choking episode.

In a new study, we’ve found part of the reason why strangulation during sex is so common may be because many people mistakenly believe that, while risky, it can be made safe through moderating pressure and appropriate communication.

But stopping blood flow to the brain can take less pressure than opening a can of soft drink. And research shows strangulation can result in serious harms even when it’s consensual.

That quote doesn’t say anything other than “it’s not safe” and “it can take less pressure than opening a can of soft drink”

It honestly reads like one of those fake websites that only exist to game SEO and sell ad space that you come across searching something like “Severence season 3 release date.” It repeats itself over and over without actually saying anything of substance.

The problem with that is the author’s unawareness of risk aware kink.

If someone is doing breath play, or applying blood restriction during their play, they know damn good and well it’s never fully safe.

The problem comes in with noobs and idiots thinking that you can bypass serious effort at learning how to minimize risk with reading some random internet article on a bot written blog.

There are absolutely ways to make the risk so minimum that it has to be some kind of unknown factor driving the risk upwards and not being accounted for to cause injury or death. But those things do happen. It’s a real and unavoidable possibility.

There’s also difference between strangulation and proper breath play, but that’s another example of a writer not doing due diligence in terminology

A proper carotid choke leading into and through an orgasm leads to a powerful experience.

There is a reason so many people die during autoerotic asphyxiation.

Never use a device to construct your neck, like a rope, only use your or a trusted and experienced partner’s hand so pressure can be removed before losing consciousness. You can’t remove a noose around your own neck when you pass out, which leads to you having the best orgasm you will ever have.

Huh, I always assumed it was a con/noncon thing. Some people like to role play helpless and attacked, but in a safe situation with someone they want . I assumed it was just holding by the neck, and was freaked out by that idea

There can be a degree of power play involved, but that is contextual and intent matters.

You can grab your partner by the neck firmly to infer domination or gain physical leverage with or without the intent to compress the trachea to restrict airflow, but applying pressure to the arteries of the neck for the purpose of reducing blood flow to the brain for enhancing an orgasm is a different grip.

The majority of neck grabbing, as often seen in porn, is the absolute wrong way to apply pressure to the arteries in the neck to enhance an orgasm; so it is just a domination or leverage thing. You can seriously injure a partner trying to grab their whole neck to achieve a hypoxic orgasm and even doing it properly with too much force can damage an artery. It takes almost no force to achieve the desired results, under 5lbs total, and you will see guys death gripping a partner. It only takes 15psi to damage a trachea and that is easy for most guys to do. So guys, a firm grip is fine, but don’t choke them and keep pressure off of their windpipe ffs.

It is honestly hard to do a carotid choke properly and with the right timing without experience with your partner along with experience in doing it. Just shifting position, being off by a few seconds, swallowing, or moving your head can totally spoil the chances of having what could be an earth shattering convulsive extended orgasm for any gender.

          That’s the joke.

People serious like to tease the reaper and cum as they are literally about to die with a rope or belt around their neck because cuming and going is supposedly the best. It is basically suicidal to do that solo and just stupid with a partner to provide some sort of rescue.

Probably because it feels incredible. I love the feeling of my spouse’s hand gently restricting my airway during sex. It’s worth noting that she’s never ever cut off my air supply or caused bruising - and that we communicate really well - but I can easily imagine how someone would get carried away.
