“Temporarily suspended” is not the same as “dismissed with extreme prejudice never to hold office ever again”. The latter is what’s called for and what these women deserve to see.

But it’s much better than backed by the entire direction of the national federation and threatening to pursue 80s sportwomen.

Yeah, the “don’t fuck with our public image or the sponsors are going to leave” comitee. If they could have kicked him they would.

The last thing they want is their sponsors walking away for not be associated on the bad side of another #metoo

They can’t. First they must redo their image. Second do you belive CocaCola board is happy to see their logo next of the one of a group which support sexual harassment ? I don’t think so.

CocaCola does not care. Their brand will not suffer. If anything, they like that it makes the logo feel ubiquitous.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

Rubiales was widely condemned in Spain after he kissed star player Jenni Hermoso on the lips without her consent at the Women’s World Cup last Sunday.

In the days that followed, he rejected repeated calls to step down and defended his kiss as “mutual, euphoric, and consensual.”

Victor Francos, who is the president of the CSD and the country’s sports minister, said the government would “initiate proceedings” to require Rubiales to explain himself before a tribunal as soon as possible.

Rubiales would then be suspended if the administrative court finds that the controversial kiss, which Hermoso said was unwanted, violated the country’s sports code.

“I think we can say it is the MeToo of Spanish football,” Francos told journalists just hours after Rubiales announced he would not step down.

Spain’s women’s football league, Liga F, said it also lodged its own complaint with the CSD over Rubiales’ “very serious actions and behavior.”

The original article contains 414 words, the summary contains 149 words. Saved 64%. I’m a bot and I’m open source!

The bosses are never the irreplaceable part of a sports organization. The woman have talent. The boss is just a guy in a suit.

This guy deserves everything he’s getting. I just saw his speech where he kept saying that he wouldn’t step down. It really felt like he just felt invincible. And all these men clapping for him as well.

I obviously don’t know the all the details, and I really don’t want to defend behavior like this, but I feel like he might even have gotten away with it if he had strongly apologized immediately after finding out that the kiss really wasn’t appreciated. Instead he dug in and went full on the defensive.
