This is beyond stupid. The writer states that helmets don’t protect from getting hit by cars, so they don’t work. Once you are hit by a car it’s pretty hard to stop your head from bouncing off the car or the pavement. It greatly limits the kind and severity of head injuries you can get.

If you don’t want to wear one then don’t. Just don’t write articles that pretends helmets are not useful pieces of safety gear.

I agree with the sentiment that protected bike lanes are critical for safety but yeah, I am sure as hell wearing a helmet, especially on an ebike!

I have never heard anyone say wearing a helmet would protect against a car. Obviously that wouldn’t be true. So not really sure why he keeps focusing on this. Seems like a bit of a red herring. That being said, if he doesn’t want to wear a helmet, then don’t wear a helmet (assuming it is legal where he lives). No need to make up excuses for it.

Helmets won’t protect against getting hit by a car. However they will protect against a lot of other things that can go wrong. Do not like perfect be the enemy of good.
