343’s inability to stick to a storyline and multiplayer loot boxes aside, Halo 5 had a lot of really cool features:
- Warzone, when teams where balanced, which was rare, was a blast and brought in weapon component customization, unique weapon and vehicle variants, and PvPvE
- Warzone Assault was a really fun asymmetrical variant similar to Invasion
- Warzone Firefight, while not an exact firefight replacement, was a great blend of their Warzone system with legacy firefight gameplay
- The soundtrack rocked
- 031 Exuberant Witness
- The pistol was an absolute menace, I have never been sweatier in a Halo match
- Subjective, but I had an amazing experience with the clan system and still game with people I met through it to this day while grinding for Achilles
- Customizable multiplayer announcer
I only wish it got a proper PC port
I haven’t played Infinite’s Forge, or much of Infinite beyond the free multiplayer back when it first dropped, but 5’s Forge was one of the best most robust customizers I’ve ever seen, and with absolutely HUGE maps to boot.
it also had this absolute banger

I only wish it got a proper PC port
The only Halo game I never played because it’s not on PC…
Buddies and I had a ton of fun with breakout, it’s the main thing I crave for the PC release / MCC integration that will never happen.
I knew I was missing something, Breakout was a blast with a full group
Best gunplay of the 343 games.
Best multiplayer of the 343 games, despite having no split screen.
Warzone Firefight was a blast.
Lootboxes where (99.9% of) everything could be achieved at a reasonable pace was much better than the current system.
Evil Cortana was the best 343 antagonist.
The Guardians themselves were a great replacement for the Halo rings.
LOTS to complain about. But I actually think it was the closest to getting things right.
