Twinings is the brand. Not sure what grounds there is for calling it the most famous - before clicking the article I thought it had to be Typhoo or Tetley. Clearly they all thought that whatever they chose for the company name, it *had* to begin with “T” because, you know, they sell tea.
A Guess. But when outside the UK. Twinings is the most likely one to find in supermarkets etc.
When I lived in the US it was often all I could find.
Had to go to British stores to find Tetley. And only being back in the UK for 15 years did I discover the truth.

Typhoo is kind of a dead brand at this point; they went into administration and closed their factory, and now it’s owned by a vape company who just resell tea made by others.
Tetley is a plausible contender I guess, but I didn’t think they were that well known abroad.
PG Tips strangely is pretty much unknown abroad because it’s owned by Lipton who sell essentially the same product under different brands elsewhere.
Yorkshire Tea/Taylors of Harrogate seems like the most likely brand to beat Twinings in global recognition though.
PG tips has been dead to me since they stopped making pyramid bags.
Most famous? I’d say they’re behind Tetley, PG Tips, and the pinnacle, Yorkshire Tea.
It’s decent tea, but The Tea House in Covent Garden is where I get the top shelf stuff. They also ship worldwide.
I haven’t bought this brand since I can never seem to find their loose leaf.
