So how’s it going?
I just saw the announcement of Home Assistant’s “Voice Preview”, an open source alexa/google home/siri, and have ordered one on a whim.
For years I was following Mycroft which I was hopeful for but they had so many issues I never had confidence to put my money into it. Then they finally had a preorder of their product and it was like $200USD, and then eventually they folded. I have much more faith in Home Assistant delivering considering all their work on voice so far, and also it’s a real product already ready to order and costs $59USD. So I ordered one on a whim.
It’s called “Preview” because they don’t think the experience is ready for the average home yet, better for early adopters and tinkerers. I am more than happy to tinker so I have taken the dive and am keen to see how good it is.
Built an outdoor guinea pig cage out of an old bird cage and its been great to let the pigs chill outside feeling the sun and breeze. I dug them two tunnels under the dirt which are very cool and I keep a shade cloth over the cage to stop them getting to hot.
Do guinea pigs burrow themselves? They seem like the kind of animal that would, so I found it interested that you dug tunnels for them.
They do make very shallow burrows but mine don’t and if never seen pet ones do it.

It’s not even Christmas yet and I’m already getting Boxing Day Sale emails!
It took me so long to work out when Black Friday was because I started getting the emails in October saying their black Friday sale was on.
I luckily haven’t had any boxing day sales emails yet. I guess they start as soon as they can’t guarantee delivery before Christmas?
To be fair it’s only one so far…
I definitely saw many “Black Friday is coming” emails in Oct. Black Friday has turned into either Black November or Black week or basically multiple sales throughout all of November.
