I put on my grown up pants today and called to book in for a new mental health plan and reached out to a psych for an appointment. She specialises in depression and trauma but can also do adult adhd assessments so I’m hoping she can help me unpick some things. I’m not in crisis (which I have been every other time I’ve sought help) so I’m feeling partly good about this and partly feeling like I am wasting everyone’s time and they will think I’m bunging it on … and that folks is why I need help unpicking some stuff !

But geez louise there’s proper money required even with the rebates. faark this system - It shouldn’t be a privilege to be able to seek help.

I’ve got on my list to get a new mental health care plan as well, it’s time to invest in my MH again as I’ve felt myself slipping a bit lately. This post has motivated me to make a booking.

The cost for appointments is ridiculous even after the rebate. I called last week to find out the updated prices of the place I used to go for therapy, and they’ve hiked so much just in the 18 months since I last went.

Good on you for taking next steps, it’s not easy but it is very necessary. Having just done that today though, good lord I hear you on the costs - I won’t listen to a thing the Feds spruik around MH until they put more money into subsidising treatment. Especially if MH is impacting your earning capacity…

Good on you for doing such a positive thing for yourself. I know what you mean about the rebates; 10 subsidised sessions and you’re on your own. I’ve had the same issues with elder Minipeeler needing therapy this year.

Got a letter from a lord mayor candidate asking me to vote for him, but the letter is almost all generated by ChatGPT. Reckon he’s gonna use an AI to run the city?

    HUNGRY

Damn hormones. You’d think eating a full dinner might curb the hunger at least a little bit but no, apparently any time I’m not actively stuffing more food down my body is not happy. ☹️

Edit: There is now pudding in the oven.

Melbcat is eating well again. She started refusing the fancy wet food and seemed a bit off with the probiotics so I’ve just been giving her the plain nutritionally complete homebrand with her meds mashed in.

She is loving the electric blanket in cooler weather. Comes to cuddle in the day and sleeps on it at night. If I’m half asleep and don’t lift the doona she burrows under it herself to be incubated like an egg.

fastest way to catch a fine brace of catfish is to throw out the heated blanket. Misha was sleeping on ours last night and it wasn’t even turned on (just folded on the couch)

Four assignments due next week. Three exams. A few quizzes. Ten weeks of lectures for one subject which will be watched in 2x speed.

    Then we’re done.

I don’t feel like I’ve learnt much from my degree, except that I should be better at time management. Hoping I won’t be saying that about the next course I do because that one should be the one that actually gets me a job!

I’ve no idea what your area is, but learning is never wasted. I started one degree, switched to a double that kept the first major. Then went to TAFE for something totally different. The first bits of paper proved rather expensive, but I use the background knowledge indirectly everyday. Makes me better at my ‘lower’ qualification.

Um, so, I burnt my thumb with concentrated white vinegar. I tried googling what to do, but I haven’t been able to find an answer.

Just wondering if the wisdom of the DT has any insight?

    pic of thumb, sfw

Edit: nvm. Ive just realised it’s interacting with the grazes I have on my thumb from punching moths yesterday; I missed and punched the wooden bed frame. Rinsed thoroughly

Would love to stop feeling anxious about an appointment for my medications that I need. I hate that cannabis is so frowned upon, that I still hold the feeling of doing something illegal, when I need it to sleep.

This has been such a shithouse week for me, no restful sleep, just nightmares and a impending sense of doom.

Fucking ugh. Leave me alone, Brain, why can’t you be kind to meeee wah wah lol

Carpet moths have also returned, so slept on the couch after soaking them in vinegar and punching the ones that tried to escape. I hate carpet. Never install carpet.

I don’t have the executive function to deal with this shit

I saw a few moths in my house too. Nooooo

I’ve still got the attractant traps in the pantry and the wardrobes, but am going to have to vacuum more often.

And put the crackers in the freezer as soon as I get them (to kill any eggs potentially brought home from the supermarket). I don’t see any other way they could be getting in

I don’t think anyone would have the executive function to deal with that shit. Our minds absolutely suck at trying to protect us in this day and age. We end up feeling like shit instead.

@ Spud’s mean inner voice and the carpet moths: there’s the door 🚪

I hope you feel better soon <3

Honestly tired of this shit weather. It can’t just be cold and drizzly which is bad enough, we also have to content with the wind that cuts through you like an ice pick.

Glad I’m going to a tropical country in a few weeks to escape it, even if only for a brief period.

Made a stinky savoury spread for lunch.

Anchovies, garlic, capers, mustard and some chilli. Mush with mortar and pestle, spread onto fried bread.

Absolutely delicious…definitely not office or society friendly though.
