Short-form content is addicting and it is working. In my country tiktok is blocked so the userbase is shifted to either Instagram Reels or YT shorts.

Personally I have them blocked on my revanced but at times I use shorts when I need some quick solution for something like shortcut to reboot graphics driver on Windows, a quick stretch to ease my neck pain etc.

I’m the same except I don’t have productive hobbies like you. I refuse to do things which are popular. Not all but most things. I don’t refuse them because they’re popular but when I feel they’re popular for no reason.

I refuse to use Instagram, tiktok because they have no reason for me. I don’t posts pics or videos of mine on the internet and content there is largely trash. But I use YouTube.

I refuse to watch mainstream movies and series because for some reason I don’t like watching humans act. But I watch anime.

I prefer normal calls over app calls.

My immediate reaction was that they’re shitty person too. But I’d also do the same thing anon did and let them have their party.

But are they shitty? It depends how deep is their relationship ig. If she’s the one you are going to marry then they’re shitty. If the relationship is still in beginning phase, they’re kinda like a distant friend and not necessarily needed to be with us in our hard times. My 8 year old analog watch just died on me a day before and I don’t think I need a smartwatch for my next one. Despite me being tech savvy, I never actually wanted myself a smart watch. I felt it’s only useful if you are into working-out and I also think analog watches look more prettier then these smartwatches.
