The German Christian Democrat will now be the head of the EU’s lawmaking and enforcement body until 2029.

huh? Sure she is member of CDU but in the EU is she part of EVP/EEP/PPE?

The Greens, who voted against von der Leyen in 2019, said they would support her to keep the far right out of power.

“Is this a green programme that she has provided us? I can tell you no,” Terry Reintke, a co-leader of the Greens, said on the chamber floor. She said it was crucial that a majority of pro-European democratic groups holds to “keep the far right from getting into power”.

which is pretty sad that we need to deal with her for five more years just to keep the far right away from control.

Sorry what? Where did you get this idea from? There’s no reason why we need to vote for this genocidal Nazi witch.

CDU is a German party. National political parties usually form coalitions at the EU level. In this case CDU is one or the members of the EPP.

yeah, I know that. But with her as president of the EU comission, the CDU isn’t the head of EUs executive?

I’m not a European (I’m American) but I honestly thought von der Leyen was a pinnacle of competence compared to our leaders when she was in office.
