“It is incredible that such an act can take place in our Country.”

Duuuude, you are massively responsible for the country being a shithole. How is this at all incredible?! The incredible thing is it took THIS long for someone to take a shot at either of ‘em.

Several assassination attempts in USA history - Kennedy, Lincoln and a couple of others whose names escape me. Political violence has been part of the culture from the get go, when the Pilgrm Fathers set up their little isis-lookalike theocracy.

Yeah, I was wondering why it took so long. I thought the number 2 reason their redneck gun but types give for why they neeeeeed a gun is that they can assassinate their leader if they don’t like them. Or maybe it’s number 3. Dealing with trespassers, personally taking down an invading military, and assassinations are what I hear the most often

The meme lords never fail to keep up with the times. I found out about this through a meme too, same go with that twit app becoming a letter and various celebrity deaths. If it wasn’t for memes, I don’t think I’d know what’s happening

I really don’t approve of violence for political purposes, but I can’t help but feel that the mongrel thoroughly deserves this or something like it. It’s a pity the shot went wild. Apparently the shooter is dead according to the abc.

The real downside is that he’s going to make political hay out of this - it’s a real gimme for motivating his voter base. Maybe even to saint and martyr status.

Depending on how this plays out this could also stir up the public over there in not so good ways.

Trump’s going to ride this out and take it to his advantage sadly, I just hope he doesn’t kick the hornet’s nest with his supporters.

I sadly think that just secured a MAGA victory. When I saw the photo of a triumphant Trump leaving the stage whilst fist pumping and bleeding, I thought OMG this is going to send MAGA supporters even deeper into blind frenzy hero worship. Project 2025 here we go.

        No.

It’s very, very hard to aim precisely enough to hit someone’s ear but not the rest of their head. That’s an absurdly precise shot to attempt deliberately.

It can’t be a BB gun or something either. They lose velocity really quickly over any sort of distance, so his ear wouldn’t go to pieces like that with a BB pellet.

        Real gun, real attempt.

I doubt it. He’s a leader of a cult, not Martyr. they know what happened to to folks on Jan 6th, and they know if he’s dead he can’t save them.

It’s all well and good to say you’re prepared to die for him, but actually doing it (especially once he is already dead) is another thing entirely.

Forgot there was wet washing in the machine still, so back to the Laundromat lol. All washed and dried and back home, took about an hour. Got a cheeky arvo coffee and had a wander around between Victoria St and Hope St.

I almost don’t want to fix the washing machine, it’s nice having this date time with my SO. No phones or anything, just hanging out.

They haven’t said anything about it or nothing. I’m drying it out and then I can assess any damage. It’s drying okay. Just concerned that it has warped the skirting board a bit. Hard to close the bathroom door ugh.

But yeah, radio silence from them, so I think I may have the time to fix it up lol

Devoured a book in one day like I used to as a kid. So that’s cool.

Downside is it was I’m Glad My Mom Died and I related concerning amounts with it. Need to process that, I guess. Good book.

Also I’m an absolute fiend for burritos lately. I want nothing more than to order one but I’ve already had like… Three fast food burritos over the last 5 days and that’s not sustainable.

I fried my brain and triggered myself into orbit reading The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma by Bessel van der Kolk, about C/PTSD and how our bodies physically store trauma. 10/10, but damn one better be in a good, scientific frame of mind because the case studies are heavy.

I’ve been meaning to read I’m Glad My Mom Died, how did you find it? (Besides the subject matter, of course).

I know its early, but I wish to access the wisdom of the DDT hive mind.

    Do I :

      1. Make chicken & leek & potato soup, thus avoiding going outside in this shit weather, and generating leftovers for the forthcoming week, OR
      1. Purchase fish & chips, thus keeping small business afloat and ensuring that fish&chips will be available in the future when I really really need them.

    Please be honest.

EDIT: Fish & Chips it is. Bless all of you, unto the seventh generation.

I woke up okay but procrastinated on my phone in bed to the point of a throbbing headache once again. And now I’m nauseous and feel extremely yuck. Why did I do this to myself? I can barely think now. I’m sure I would’ve felt a lot better if I yoinked myself out of bed at 9 and ate and drank like a normal person. Then I saw the news headlines and my immune system probably decided to give up at that point.

I am doing my best not to keep thinking about how sick I feel and woe is me. I don’t think I’m actually sick sick. Having some fancy shop bought minestrone soup to try and soothe the system. Need energy to do some meal prepping and then pick someone up from the airport tonight. I can do this…

When cafes are selling bowls of soup for 17 dollars and bowls of porridge for 19 dollars that’s when you know the country has lost the plot.

      Not ungrateful, just dreading:

Tomorrow is the start of another week. I only have a couple of things planned tomorrow, but I think it’s going to be a busy week trying to deal with my org and begin to get some things replaced. I should probably also go down to the police station and see if they’ll let me know what the go is and if I can safely start moving things around and throwing out/having repaired the broken stuff
