The senior Tory will also step down as an MP at the next general election, he tells the Sunday Times.

He was tipped as a future leadership contender not so long ago.

Now he’s not even going to be an MP after the next election. Quite the turnaround.

He was also tipped for the top NATO job up until the Biden snub. I imagine that was more painful than missing the PM job (he’d have inherited a bag of wet shit).

Another one of the “safe pair of hands “ on the way out. The Tories are going to be out of power for a while, but it still matters who is left running the party. If there are fewer Wallaces then there’s more chance it’ll be one of the absolute headbangers.

Shame. Probably the only member of the cabinet that seems to be competent at their job.

General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don’t post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think “reputable news source” needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.
