Do you even need to remake an animated show if within a year or two you can just perfectly deep fake it?
Please don’t give them ideas.
Plot twist: they deepfake the remakes to make them look more like the originals!
Why make something new when you can rehash what already exists, but worse?
Sad that Ray Stevenson passed away recently. He was an incredible actor. I’m looking forward to seeing his final performance, but it’s bittersweet.
I’d rather it stay animated if its all the same, but I’ll accept live action, as long as they don’t make it as bad as the most recent seasons of the live action series (mostly looking at Kenobi, it put a bad taste in my mouth and I haven’t watched Andor or Mando 3 bc of it).
I’m finally getting used to Ahsoka in live action, but there is still some sort of reverse uncanny valley that I feel anytime I see her in Mando or Book of Boba Fett. I miss her animated incarnation and Ashley Eckstein’s vocal talents, as well as the general expressiveness of the animated genre.
Andor is incredible.
I’ve heard so many great things! I’m gonna try to catch up on it soon, I’ve just been super fatigued after Kenobi. Same thing happened to me regarding Star Trek TNG after Season 2
I’ll second the Andor recommendation. It really is worth watching. By far the best of the shows and it stands miles over the other Live Action shows
…but it’s not a remake…?
I just want more Star Wars. Ahsoka could be 3D animated, live action, or anime and I’d still watch it.
The live-action Disney remakes are pretty universally better than the OG animated movies.
Haven’t seen TLM yet so idk about that one.
Are you sure about that Mr Disney knight? Because they are all dogshit, fail to capture anything and devalue the original.
You’re allowed to not like things. That’s totally fine.
However I think “devalue the original” is a bit of an exaggeration. The originals absolutely still exist.
And newcomers are going to watch which version first? The new ones, which are inferior and will dissuade them from exploring the originals.
My children watched the animated versions first, then the live-action. We watch the cartoons together before going to see the live action. They’re about 50/50 on which one they like better.
Also worth noting another person watching or liking any movie does not change your experience or affect your preferences in any way. To make this loosely SW-related, I despise the prequel movies generally, but tons of people love them and that’s totally valid. I think Rise of Skywalker is either the 2nd or 3rd best Star Wars movie, and tons of people disagree with me - their opinion is just as valid as mine in most cases. People like different things.
As for me, I’m just hoping to see a non-white Snow White just to watch my racist relatives shit a brick lol
I think Rise of Skywalker is either the 2nd or 3rd best Star Wars movie,
Then you are lost! / Friend, you are crazy.
Okay, you have your opinions on the Prequels and Sequels, that’s your prerogative. I won’t argue with you. We all have our guilty pleasures.
Also worth noting another person watching or liking any movie does not change your experience or affect your preferences in any way
Thats simply not true. When you have one good movie out of one movies, then its objectively great. When you shovel bad movies in whatever way, then you devalue it. As its no longer THE movie but one out of a bunch of shit.
When you tell someone about The little Mermaid, they will have to ask you which one you mean.
Problem is many people disagree on what is good or bad, as our discussion here clearly demonstrates.
Having to ask which little mermaid I like isn’t really a big deal, in the grand scheme of things. “Which one? Both, but I prefer X.” Takes 2 seconds.
Go back to Reddit, go into PrequelMemes or SaltyAsCrait, and start talking about the Godawful dialogue in the prequels. Let us know how that goes.
Ah yes, I remember how they improved the Lion King by draining all facial expressions and emotions out of the animation!
That’s how lions work.
Because more realistic = better? They also don’t really talk, but that wouldn’t be an enjoyable movie would it?
Not just “more realistic” (which I interpret as a general preference of art style, which yes, I’d agree is subjectively better) but I also like some of the other changes,
I do prefer the original “Be Prepared” but I like Smith’s “Friend Like Me” better, as an example. I do slightly prefer Williams’ bombastic Genie in the character portrayal, but not that song.
To me, art direction is the missing piece in both those songs, in opposite direction.
dang, that’s gotta be the biggest L take in the history of L takes.
Live action remakes, especially in the context of Disney Renaissance films, quite frankly go against the artistry that Howard Ashman had in mind when originally conceiving the idea of making musicals in the world of animation.
Yeah but who cares what that guy thinks? They’re better movies.
I’m sorry?
By TLM I meant The Little Mermaid
