Lately, I have seen a lot of models posting on our instance, and I’m not against it, but I noticed that some of them post the same photo in many communities, resulting in feed subscribed or local with the same photo every page or multiple page.
I want to see these kind of photos/models, thats why I don’t block them, otherwise are fine to post what ever they want.
Is it only me who see it as spam? and should we limit these models ?
maybe this is a feature opportunity for either the lemmy backend or a client, to limit identical content – perhaps showing only the first or the most commented of multiple identical posts.
Otherwise, if the content is apropos and the model is sexy, I tolerate it. It’s closer to OC than reddit/redgifs repost bots. I could do without the engagement thirst title BS, e.g. “Do older men like my boobs?”
It’s the same Onlyfans agency that drops, by spams the instance for a few weeks, and then leave. None of these posts are done by the actual women themselves. They don’t post anything interesting to me and I have them all blocked, but I see their obnoxious spam on my SFW accounts browsing all.
I’m more annoyed that they literally made brand new accounts that I had to reblock for a few of them. I’m not sure if that’s a ban evasion attempt or if they just forgot their passwords…
That’s interesting, have you had follow up conversations with the OF models about where their content is ending up?
I’m not sure what you’re asking and I don’t know why I would reach out to what basically amounts to a bot.
Every model is “19” with the same genericly structured backstory. They post 4-6 pictures, across several communities (usually barely applicable to the community) with OF trials links that have very recognizable and poorly translated titles. When one model stops their spam, the next in line starts about a minute or two later. They always start with every one of their clients on the first day and then usually only do about two or three every following day for about a week. They’ve been following this pattern for months.
I was wondering what the models might think about their images being used as spam but I suppose they might not give a fuck.
It’s not necessarily a nefarious actor. There are many social media management agencies that provide services like these out there. It’s very likely the models pay the agency to do this.
wondering what the models might think about their images being
They might not give a fuck, but we as the community give a fuck cause we browser this community every day.

I have noticed this too!
Sounds like we need to have a verification system for OC.
Given the assumption that this is someone working with the models and not a bad actor of some sort, verification wouldn’t stop this type of spam unfortunately.
What if part of the verification process was an agreement not post post any piece of OC more than once to the instance? That way if the mods and admins had to progress to blanket bans it could be seen that they’d tried to cooperate and the agencies would then be seen to be bad value for money to the models.
He’s pointing out that the models have paid to be spammed here
Certainly they’d have paid but more likely they were told that there was a promotional strategy rather than, ‘I’m going to make you quite unpopular on various platforms.’
Well… I mean it’s pretty obvious they were told it’s a promotional strategy?
You’ve missed my point. They will have been told something works to their benefit. If they find out that it doesn’t they won’t pay for it.
To start of with, yes, I find it irritating.
However I like to think about things and here’s how I think about this. Firstly, these people have more skin in the game in a literal and metaphorical sense. They’re sharing their bodies with us and have no great expectation of immediate financial gain for doing so. So, if I were in that position I imagine my attitude would be ‘I am sharing myself and I get to dictate the terms of how that sharing happens.’
Second, they may be experimenting with communities to find where they seem to be best appreciated.
Third, they might be deciding whether this kind of sharing or instance or platform is right for them before investing more time and effort in creating more and better quality content.
So I think it’s a learning curve thing and if one creator starts to try to milk the same five photos for an extended period of time I’d expect them to fall foul of the laws of diminishing returns.
I can afford, for now, to put aside my irritation with the reposts and hope that the users doing it settle down into a natural rhythm of posting OC.
Of course some mods of individual subs might like to drop them a kindly worded warning PM that such behaviour is largely perceived as irritating and they might like to think about it but I think there’s users that post non-OC content that behave in other ways which are hurtful to the instance which should probably be addressed first.
It’s an agency. All the posts for all the women you’re seeing are made by the same person.
In that case then there should be absolutely no tolerance for that at all. Was Yesbum the same agency?
No Yesbum made her own posts. She only started her Fansly and OF after she started posting here.
I think yesbum had some OF experience prior to her activity on lemmy. That being said I really enjoy her content so I don’t mind.
Many of her pictures can also be found here from years ago: https://coomer.su/onlyfans/user/emmapaisley
OK.

Downvotes work if you are subscribed to a community for a week or more
Please spare us the platitudes. When they can post to any number of loosely moderated, if even at all, communities at a time you’re asking us to be subscribed to every single community on the instance, A WEEK IN ADVANCE, just to self police as a community.
It’s not a platitude, it’s just a fact. Just trying to inform. You don’t have to subscribe to every single community, just the ones you want. If you are part of a community you can use downvotes to help shape that community. If you’re not part of that community then would it not make sense that you don’t have a vested interest in the content of it outside of removing spam?
If you want a post removed because it’s spam, downvotes isn’t going to do that. Report it, so that I or any of the other mods/admins, that check reports every day, can remove the post and ban the offender if need be.
To be honest, I just down vote them in the smaller niche communities, unless the content is very appropriate. It’d probably be better if they just cross posted instead, but I don’tthink its big enough of an issue to start cracking down on.
If their content isn’t a good fit for the community please do report
As long as the photo is appropriate (on topic) for the community, I have no issue with it. This site needs more content; now is not the time to start nitpicking about it.
You folks need to also be aware of the impact of federation, and how that amplifies a local minor spam issue, into frustration from federated communities.
The feed ends up being 6 posts of the same pic in a row. Multiply again across a handful of models, and suddenly federation with lemmynsfw looks overwhelming spammy.
I for one don’t want to have to instance block. Others may be less hesitant, at which point you have made the pool of potential users (content generation and consumption) smaller.
Yeah, this is how I see it as well. On my general account I don’t like to block NSFW posts, but it makes the all feed extremely awful to browse for a few hours when they do this. Just shrugging your shoulders at the behavior only invites them to continue the behavior as it reflects very poorly on the instance overall.
I saw the same picture from the same girl multiple times in the ALL feed yesterday. While that may be fine, the fact that lemmy doesn’t have color changing links when viewing inline media, this becomes an issue.
