surprised me as well! i thought this was a fairly straightforward request, i wonder why so many abstained!
Trying to stay out of it I guess. IMO, if you don’t vote as an elected official, you shouldn’t get paid.
They’re not elected officials though, they represent their countries
How did they get the job?
Got appointed by their government.
Okay, then, an appointed position should not get paid if they refuse to vote.
They do what the government tells them to. Their government thinks that an abstaining vote is the best foreign policy option for their country.
