You know, it’s easy enough to ban personally targeted algorithms.

Although I do believe that this government is way off the mark and seem to not have a critical brain amongst them, likening the ban to 1984 is weird. 1984 has unavoidable telescreens that feed citizens full of propaganda and perform invasive monitoring of all.

Kids will absolutely find a way around this though and be less protected than before, then having private information fed into these predatory U.S. based mega-corporations when they finally do reach 16. Meanwhile, they’ll be easily skirting access restrictions then leaving bullying unreported out of fear.

You can’t help but think it’s all to keep the social media companies happy. Restrict aggressive marketing and manipulative negative engagement? Nah… That’ll make Zuckerberg sad. Let’s systematically kill teenagers instead.
