Isn’t there like a ton of Arduino clones that wouldn’t be owned by Qualcomm?

I’m a total novice with electronics but I remember buying an Arduino yonks ago and leaving it to gather dust. I want to tinker with and build some fun little devices with blinkenlights, what’s a good way to start?
