Just days since launch, and CoMaps is already making waves! Many have downloaded the new navigation app, and the reviews are rolling in!
From fast directions to support of the CoMaps principles, people are loving the way CoMaps makes getting around.
– “Finally the freedom and privacy respecting open source map app I needed… and finally not for profit!”
– “Great start for a community run fork. I already donated, and really hope the development can keep up with that of Organic Maps.”
– “forked, improved, released, love it.”
Thank you to everyone sharing the love — and tell your friends. This is just the beginning.
Hey I wrote one of those. As a mad keen map nerd, I’m so chuffed about comaps!
Still can’t download it from F-droid
why do they make it out to be this brand new project of theirs instead of just a fork of an existing one, feels kinda misleading and shady
Unclear on the crowdsourced features of there are any, like things in the road, police, etc?
It uses openstreetmap for the map data
It has the same annoying bug as openstreet in that when I search for places in my town they are all shown as if they are in the town on the other side of the river in the other province ! There does not seem to be any way to submit corrections.
The top 4 results in this screenshot are located in Gatineau.
And Ottawa is in Ontario. It makes it hard to find places when they are listed with the wrong city.
Used for a several mile hiking trip, and it works flawlessly. Spreading the word as much as I can! ♥
Where are these reviews? Does F-Droid do reviews now?
Seems like they’re from Google playstore reviews.
Installed it. Have driven from Germany to France with it, and now navigating France. It’s great. I removed organic after this test

Is OrganicMaps still being developed?
To my knowledge it’s still being developed. The fork to CoMaps was based on some trust issues with the company developing Organic Maps. Some info here: https://news.itsfoss.com/organic-maps-fork-comaps
I know why it was forked I was asking whether the contributors all came along or split
