I’ve never heard this either! Around here in Arizona the big cities and most landscapers plant these all over the place as a default since they do so well in the heat I guess. I have 5 clippings I’m rooting now and waiting to put in. Although this whole valley is filled with invasives at this point, I’m not sure it’s really spreading to the desert at least.
