Heads up 10/10 = 1 so these reviews are pretty low.
I hope they’ve done enough to the Manhattan area to ‘spice it up’. In the first game I never really got any incentive to explore it beyond the icons on the map/hud. When Tears of the Kingdom released I was also a bit disappointed with how much of the map stayed the same. Sure, they added a lot of new areas in that game, but in the end you still had to cover a lot of known ground.
Still, reviews are looking good and I’m excited to try it out;
It looks absolutely amazing. On the one hand I really want to get it because it looks so good and seems to push the PS5, but on the other hand I didn’t manage to get through the first Spiderman game nor Miles Morales.
My main issue with those games is the combat system. There is just too much going on and there are too many button combo’s to remember. This makes combat feel like a chore and it never really flows right.
Those games have such a great story. I would look into dropping the difficulty and giving them another go. Don’t let the mechanics get in the way of your enjoyment. I do agree though. The jump in complexity from 1 to MM was a bit much for me to wrap my head around.
I feel like that just means that you need to drop the difficulty and get some practice. Not to “get gud” you or anything but I beat it once already and now I’m playing on Ultimate and the flow is so tight it’s insane. It’s incredibly well done but you have to be good to pay attention to everything. It’s like DooM Eternal in terms of fun management.
I got Spiderman 2 and it’s great. I mainly had this issue when I picked up Miles Morales after I hadn’t played it for a while. Just too many combo’s to remember. No issues so far in Spiderman 2 and I’v already unlocked the majority of the skills tree and gadgets.
I liked the first one, but that’s the issue I had with MM. I think I just got tired of having to remember to use this ability for this kind of enemy, and this one for that kind…it got annoying.
Exactly my issue. No problems with Spiderman 2 though.
Good to know. I’ll probably try it out eventually when it’s on sale.
Nice! I hope it won’t be long until a PC version arrives.
I believe two years is Sony’s standard delay for PC releases.
It’s official, folks. Unfetter your hype and submit those pre-orders if you’re inclined.
I have to say, I’m surprised they brought back the MJ missions. I’m trying to remember how much I enjoyed them on my first playthrough, but I can say in subequent ones I was desperate to move past them. Maybe they’ll let you skip them in new game plus like they did for the science “puzzles” in the first game.
Edit: obligatory bring-back-original-peterface. I feel a twinge of bitterness every time I see peterface 2.0.
There is no pre-order in this dojo
Don’t pre-order. Full stop.
The MJ missions are still there but they’re slightly better. They don’t feel as “random” in terms of getting discovered.
I don’t get the Peterface thing. I think the updated face looks better but that’s just me.
I know what I’m doing this weekend
I’ve got my Spider-Man 2 themed PS5 and a download code that I can’t redeem until this Friday ready to play this weekend… or next. I don’t think I will be done with BG3 by Friday and I am loving it so I might wait until I’m done with my first playthrough before I hope into another game.
Does it do anything dramatically different from the first two?
I enjoyed the first one, Miles Morales felt a little “samey”.
Not sure I want to dive in and have to do all the same stuff a 3rd time.
Same. I actually enjoyed the first one and assumed I’d like MM, but I lost interest rather quickly. Think I just got tired of the formula.
