For this Sunday Slop Night, first up is The Cranes Are Flying (1957), one of the most highly-regarded films of Soviet auteur Mikhail Kalatozov (who also made Soy Cuba, which we watched already.) A man and a woman fall in love in 1941, but then the Nazis invade, the lady has to move in with her cousin, and everything goes south. It is generally considered one of the greatest Soviet films, being currently ranked #60 on the [https://letterboxd.com/dave/list/official-top-250-narrative-feature-films/](Letterboxd Top 250). After that is the latest indie LGBT comedic sensation, Bottoms (2023), from newcomer zoomer director Emma Seligman. What if Fight Club was set in high school, but it was all women, and they were lesbians? Hilarity ensues, that’s what. Rave reviews everywhere for this one, so let’s check it out.

We’ll start at 9PM EST on Hextube, right here: https://live.hexbear.net/c/movies

Be there, comrades!
