In fact if you are in a position to, I would encourage everyone reading this to take a moment to look up your state’s candidate filing procedures and see how you can try taking an official’s job that they’re not doing. Just because you may not have the millions in funding doesn’t mean you can’t or won’t have a shot at winning.
I have never, ever in my entire life aspired to any sort of political office. I figured I wasn’t well suited to that, I don’t have a law degree, it’s just not for me.
These days that opinion is now “well I couldn’t possibly do a worse job than the ones actually getting elected for this”, so…

Yes please! And ditto, I too never thought I would/could aspire to run for office but if any positions are up for election near me I will earnestly look into running.
