The mafia and other organized crime will switch from smuggling drugs to smuggling everyday items.

So I lived in Lebanon during their economic crisis a few years back, this is exactly what happened, certain stores with ties to powerful “political sects” were fully stocked selling all kinds of electronics duty and tariff free, basically the same price as what it was sold for before tax in the USA. Cash only, no warranties. Of course everything was 30-40% cheaper than their customers. Wonder how they got 'em.

I can’t imagine a lot of people want to piss off CBP right now. Don’t want to get caught smuggling a laptop and get sent to Venezuela.

I live near the northern border, and recently a client at work wanted us to cross the border to pick up samples weekly, my job is shipping/receiving so I got asked and said not a chance I’m crossing the border once, let alone regularly. Just need one asshole having a bad day and what could I even do about it.

Luckily I have good bosses and none of them want to do it either and don’t blame me for not wanting to do it. Now the client will pay more to ship directly to us through a 3rd party.
