I’m planning to buy Smart TVs for my house and I wanted to know which TV OS has better support for homelab media apps.

Self-Hosted apps:

  • Jellyfin
  • Immich
  • Nextcloud Memories
  • Funkwhale or Navidrome or Mopidy
  • AudioBookShelf

Non-selfhosted apps I use:

  • Steam Link
  • All Streaming apps (Netflix, Disney+, etc.)
  • YouTube, YT Kids
  • YouTube Music
  • Spotify
  • Audible

Straight up don’t fucking do it, smart tvs are all trash that’s spies on you. Get a industrial monitor for about the same price and throw a Roku on it

If you are determined go Samsung, Tizen sucks but WebOs is the worst OS I’ve ever experienced

Presumably Roku spies on you too? Better to installato one of those linux based OSes that you can even install on a Pi

I personally use Kodi though OSMC. I especially like the ability to control it from my phone.

I’ve never used any streaming services on it so I don’t know how that works. I mostly just watch live TV with my hdhomerun
