warmaster@lemmy.worldto Linux@lemmy.ml•What is this "device" in Dolphin? The fact that's it's full is preventing me from doing some things (Fedora Aurora)283·15 小时前That is your / (root) partition. You can’t write to it because Aurora is an atomic & immutable distro.
Source: I use Aurora & Bazzite.
If you want a set it and forget it distro to never touch his computer again, then consider going a Ublue distro. Aurora (only KDE), or Bazzite (choose the KDE image) if he does gaming.
warmaster@lemmy.worldto Linux Gaming@lemmy.world•Native Linux Games/Applications with HDR Support?English4·2 天前This is what I do, I enable HDR on:
- My Monitor’s menu (hardware)
- Steam Game Mode
- KDE Plasma monitor config (software)
- Game settings
My monitor isn’t OLED, so the difference is barely noticeable to me. Even on my Steam Deck OLED, the difference is not big enough for me. It’s nice, but I just can’t appreciate it as much as others do. However, I do graphic design so the color management aspect is more valuable to me in a work context, just not so much for games.

warmaster@lemmy.worldto Steam Deck@sopuli.xyz•Steam Deck sales still going strong over three years later6·4 天前My kids freaking love it, and family sharing is crazy good. I use it on trips. My other two PCs are running Bazzite.

Please consider Ghost or Write.as, both are part of the fediverse, support markdown (meaning easy to import content from Lemmy) AND they both support public and paid-for content with ready to use payment gateways.
I don’t have much to give but I will donate to your crusade for great content.
warmaster@lemmy.worldto Linux@lemmy.ml•graphics drivers for bazzite download. 9xxmx equivalent to gtx 9xx???4·5 天前https://bazzite.gg/#image-picker
If you select laptops, Other laptop, Older/Legacy GPUs, Nvidia (GTX 9xx-10xx Series), it recommends: bazzite-nvidia:stable
Which is the image that bundles the proprietary Nvidia driver for your laptop. They don’t need to know the exact model, just the generation.
Which iCalendar (DAV) provider are you using?

warmaster@lemmy.worldto Linux@lemmy.ml•Looking for a distro that creates users on first boot after installation20·7 天前Fedora too, if the users are tech illiterate and they come from Windows it might be worth going for the Kinoite spin. They wouldn’t be able to wreck it and the UI would feel more familiar to them.
Yes, while it’s vastly better than it was not long ago, there’s quite a bit of catching up for them to do. On Bazzite gamemode on Nvidia is quite rudimentary.
However, Nvidia is progressing fast, I bet I’ll have no issues with it in the near future.
warmaster@lemmy.worldto Games@lemmy.world•Nintendo is Trying to Stop You From Filing Lawsuits Against Them With New EULA AmendmentEnglish3·7 天前In my case, I don’t hate them. I respect those devs, people have to put food on their tables somehow, and this way isn’t one of the worst… I just believe that by doing so, we are helping to perpetuate vicious corporativism.
I didn’t feel that way at the time. What I perceived was that they expected me to make more use of my keyboard. I can totally understand why that can look more mobile centric when some features are not overly clear on how to interact with them with a mouse.
Regarding the UI, the padding between elements and overall simplicity or clear space is definitely not for everyone. But it sure is for me. However I understand how other users might want to make more use of their screen real estate. In my case, I just want the UI to focus on the main things I use.
