Ok so I found the comment, and it links to this post, where they’re joking about giving critical support to Trump.
It’s not thread going into the virtues of critical support as you said. That pretty significantly deviates from what you suggested, and pretty clearly indicates that this it was a joke.
Hopefully I’m not auto-banning myself by posting links there.
Yes the phrase “critical support” means support.
But the sarcasm means that the intended meaning is exactly counter to the naive interpretation.
I feel like I’m mansplaining, but you seem to not understand sarcasm (which is ok, some people don’t; i want to make clear I’m not trying to be condescending)
Yes. Plausibly deniable speech like dog whistles suck. But you have to give some allowances that people you don’t like still have their own sense of humor that you don’t share.
I get it, you have an axe to grind. Everyone has one, and that’s ok. I would have appreciated being told that you’re not open to changing your mind earlier on, but I guess I should have just looked at your comment history myself.
Because the response that they’re not joking looks pretty clearly sarcastic.
But as someone pointed out in another thread, it can be both: a joke with a nugget of truth.
To me it reads clearly sarcastic, but I’m not deep in tankie culture so I can’t know for sure the degree to which that is true, if any.
It links to a thread explaining that they are being one hundred percent serious, going into detail about the values of critical support.
I found the user, but they made a lot of posts 2 years ago. How can I find the post so I can see the context? You seem to have a link to it?
You can find the post by using the search function and filtering to comments made and what the comment said

Still means support
No it doesn’t. In fact it means the opposite.

it’s so convenient that you can call something sarcastic
