For sure. We’re looking at anonymizing it somehow, it’s unfortunate that MediaWiki doesn’t offer other options for this and we have to do it ourselves.
The problem with anonymizing is we need to make sure the IP can’t be decrypted, otherwise it’s completely useless and even gives a false sense of security. At least at this time people are aware their IP will be published. Alternatively I remember MediaWiki has a mechanic for suppressing an editor’s name or IP but not their entire revision. Maybe it’s possible to hook into that when we approve an edit and automatically suppress the IP through the existing mechanic.
