How useful is a warm-water port in the Mediterranean really though, with the Gibraltar choke point blocking access to the rest of the world?

Honest question, I don’t know the answer

          Ah yeah, that’s true.

Not quite the same as having access to the oceans, but enough to be strategically useful.

Also, the only orher warm water port they have is in Kaliningrad, which is separated off mainland Russia by the Suwalki gap (and Belarus but they are already almost russia so,…) so a massive blow to lose the port in Syria IMO.

            Also, flaggstångsknoppstoppspolerare?

Yeah, and Kaliningrad is also choked off the oceans by the Danes.

              Also, flaggstångsknoppstoppspolerare?

Before Syria bombed less. Now Syria bombed more. Unga bunga understand? Innocents not being bombed is more important than any geopolitical opinions you might have. Obviously Israel is more likely to bomb a country with no major allies, than one with them.

Palestine and Gaza have no major military allies that would actually bomb Israel to dust. “International pressure” is clearly worthless when it comes to Israel. The only thing that matters is credible threats of violence sadly. Iran which itself has plenty of problems is basically the only country willing to event try to stand in Israels way. For Syria that might have been Russia, but now that slim chance is gone so it will be reduced to ash.
