Free upgrade is always great. Sadly, Tears of Kingdom is not on this list
I’m using https://skymoth.app/ so far so good
I’ve made a post about using northmail.ca to replace Google Calendar https://lemmy.ca/post/42995779
Sorry to hear it. I’m a casual player and the Linux performance worked well for me. If playing CS competitively, the little difference in performance is crucial.
Not sure what kind of multi player game you prefer. Dota 2 and CS have perfect Linux support and it may worth a try
With my experience, different Costco stores have different experience. The closest store to me is small and messy, and SKUs are too limited so I had to go to other supermarkets after checkout. However, another store (10km away) is neat and clean. Although crowded, the checkout process is very smooth.
If the Costco you visited made you disappointed, I’d suggest to refund the membership. We’re paying to shop in Costco, and it’s fair to expect good shopping experience.
I’m neutral with it.
A meta-search engine is a search tool that sends user queries to selected search engines and returns the result
I don’t know the cost of Waterfox to send the queries to the search engine providers. I’m afraid that the ad income can’t cover the cost
LibreOffice is the top open source choice, and it has been the default choice for Linux users for more than a decade. I’d recommend everyone to have a try
Thank you! I found a 3yr old review for no name chip, I think I should grab one in my next grocery trip

I’ll also consider to try Stax.
Thanks again
I love this video too! I was in favour of the all-in-one pods (fooled by the ads), but after watching this video, I switched to powder, and I gladly saved a few more loonies.
Sadly, both manufactures and retailers are both pushing us to purchase dishwasher pods for more profit. I had found Canadian Tire discontinued a Cascade 1kg powder package (warn: US brand). I’m looking for a Canadian brand providing powder options now.
Thanks! Modified my text
I apology for my words causing confusion. I’m not arguing “even worse” vs “much worse”. I just want to emphasize Chrome is terrible at privacy.
They have a lemmy community /c/PurchaseWithPurpose@lemmy.world
But yes, they should promote lemmy more
Chrome based browsers are even worse
IMHO “even worse” it not accurate here. Chrome based browsers are much worse, and they are always developing new technologies to exploit users’ privacy for profit.
I think the only viable option is to leave Chrome ASAP (for everyone). If one is unsatisfied with Firefox’s policy (we should!), then to choose a non-Chromium browser carefully
I’d suggest to have several tags, like [PR] = Product Recommendation [HS] = Help Needed, [Travel] [Food] etc.
Like https://lemmy.ca/c/bapcsalescanada they have [CPU] [GPU] [Monitor]
But I’m not sure how should we organize these tags
Thank you bearish!
I’d fly to Calgary, rent a car, and drive to Glacier National Park. If time permits, I’d also visit Banff National Park
Here are my two cents
I can put some extra payments on my mortgage and consider this a bond for a few years.
I think it worth some calculation about mortgage vs bond. When you pay extra mortgage, you’re saving your after-tax money from interest. When you invest in bonds, your interest earn is pre-tax. As you have kids, I assume you have some tax credit so your marginal tax rate is not so high.
Next is the US allocation.
I just learned that VOO in RRSP are exempt from 15% tax withholding. [1] Is your RRSP contribution enough for the US allocation you expect?
For me, I have some high PE, big cap stocks for Canadian market. My US allocation use for hedging CAD/USD, as my income is in CAD

AMD also claims that the Ryzen AI Max 395+’s integrated graphics, the Radeon 8060S, can beat the RTX 4070 laptop GPU by up to 68%
This sounds really promising. IMO previous NUC products are only targeting multimedia, and they performed poor at gaming. If a NUC could have at least mid-level gaming PC’s performance, it will be very attractive to those who have limited desk space
I have a steam deck an I love it, but I don’t think using it as a laptop is a good idea. Unlocking a steam deck doesn’t need a password (by default), just like Switch, GameBoy or PS Portable. If steam deck is lost, sensitive personal data can be accessed easily. Besides, I’d expect a higher risk of losing a steam deck, as I’d been playing it on various places like metro or train stations.
If you never take your steam deck out of your home, then it sounds sensible to use SD as a laptop
