Does that invalidate what he said? Isn’t that just the genetic fallacy?
x0x7@lemmy.worldOPto News@lemmy.world•Trump put higher tariffs on Israel than Iran: WTF that's awesome12·16 days agoTrue. But the US has a tendency to make exceptions for Israel. So the fact that he stuck to his math and didn’t get Israel a special exception is a small win for US Israel relations. (aka making them more normal).
Basically it’s exceptional that we didn’t make an exception. That’s kind of sad. But because it’s exceptional it’s worth noting.
That’s called chutzpah. People who take that strategy in life should be ignored.
My position is that no politician deserves respect.

It’s not in the constitution. You were never meant to interact with your federal government. The federal government was for regulating the states, interstate commerce, and common defense.

x0x7@lemmy.worldto Mildly Interesting@lemmy.world•Canada is buying advertising in the US (seen in Florida)319·25 days agoWhich is pretty true. But it’s funny because Canada has tougher tariffs on the US meaning their people pay more for things there for exactly the same reason. Canada charges a 300% tariff on dairy.
So yeah. Tariffs are bad. Let’s get rid of them entirely.
So instead you’d like protectionism for corporate moguls because at least it isn’t free market?
Found the communist so dedicated to communism that in turn he hates the free market so much that he’d prefer government backed inequality. Anything that points out that its wrong should be questioned as suspect as wrong think. It’s funny how useful the anti-wrong think crowd end up being to corporations.
What makes you think he supports Trump? What a strange comment.

I’m going to use AI to estimate the value of content, and now I’ll get the kind of content I want, though fake, that they will have to generate.
x0x7@lemmy.worldto Leopards Ate My Face@lemmy.world•Tariff Isn't Tax on Other Countries?🤪English101·1 month agoBring on the downvotes but the correct answer is don’t. Free trade causes jobs in each country to align with recardiant advantage in those countries. We have the jobs we want now. Unless we are in the middle of a depression we don’t want government to “provide more jobs”. We don’t need more jobs. We want better jobs. The whole reason why manufacturing has slowed down in the US is that the global market for manufacturing doesn’t pay as well per man hour as other opportunities we already have.
Tariffs disrupt existing jobs to bring back old jobs. Old jobs we shouldn’t want as much as the jobs we have now.
If you want to work a job that someone else is doing right now you should probably expect to make close to what they are making while doing it. Actually less because you are increasing supply. Do we want Americans to make Chinese wages? Now some manufacturing in the US doesn’t pay Chinese wages because its work only we can do, hence why it is here, and pays American wages. But if you want to “take back manufacturing” then you are talking specifically about manufacturing they have already demonstrated they can do. So any of that manufacturing will pay at most a Chinese wage. Why the hell would you want those jobs?

Do you want the government to give you some gold?
I think a society that is afraid to talk about sex is even more afraid to argue about what is actually a reasonable age of consent and assume whatever is the current answer is the right answer. That’s generally the purpose of making people afraid to talk about a topic. Blind acceptance of a current answer.
x0x7@lemmy.worldOPto Not The Onion@lemmy.world•Trump admin releases Epstein list to the public only to have the whole thing blacked out.English5·2 months agoWell that party will always make exceptions for Israel, which is relevant because of Epstein’s and Ghislaine’s ties.
Maxwell’s father had experience in distributing spyware for Israel’s CYBINT, having infected nuclear sites like Oakridge. Basically what Epstein and Ghislaine ran falls under HUMINT, which is the development of human assests (often semi-willing) in foreign countries. Everybody they managed to blackmail is a form of Israeli asset.
They aren’t going to burn Israel’s HUMINT assets in the country. This is who they released the documents to: https://img.gvid.tv/i/2XBnn6G6.jpg
Good luck getting them to give us all the names. Israel is all but caught running an underage trafficking ring targeting the US. All but caught is a lie because they are caught. But no one in the media, congress or government will say it. Just like Israel can commit mass genocide in open day light and we pretend like those who are alarmed by this are unreasonable.
As a gun owner the idea that people are ok with pitbulls but have a problem with me pisses me off. For anything bad to happen with a gun requires human agency. I actually have the capacity to know I’m not going to harm an innocent person today. But a pitbull, their owners are openly playing a lottery. Every time you walk out side with it its like me muzzle sweeping everyone in my community with my finger on a trigger saying “I’ve done it lots of times and nothing bad has happened. It didn’t hurt you this time so mind your own business. My choices don’t effect you. It’s not my fault if your kids are scared of me pointing my gun around. My kids aren’t going to get hurt in my home if I practice poor gun safety. See, they love playing with it. That’s proof it’s kid friendly”
As dangerous as a gun and with less certain human control over it is not acceptable. I’ll straight up say it. I feel as uncomfortable around a pitbull owner as someone mishandling a gun. And in the gun world if someone is willfully and blazenly mishandling a firearm to the point of endangering people you have a license to shoot them if they aren’t responsive to someone telling them to stop (non-lethally ideally).
I don’t know about licenses but if you own a pitbull people should openly tell you you are the asshole that you are.
I’m the ffmpeg guy. It’s the pandoc of binary media, except it actually does do everything.
Hmmm. I need to write an PR for converting mardown to jpeg.
