You know how the pieces actually move do you? You didn’t just remember a pattern and actually know the narrative logic behind it right? No way would someone understand scenarios like en passant and castling if they didn’t.

I had an air-fryer long before i started to put steak in it, i just assumed it couldn’t come close to doing it myself in a pan… Till we tried it after an exhausting day. Never went back.
I would also still highly recommend finishing it off in a pan but overal the process is much easier and the steaks reliably good.
As a safe bet: Almost everything “advanced tech” on tv is unrealistic.
The tech is there to drive a fictional narrative. Not to document the historical setting. Things only need to resemble reality. Inspiration from old tech helps this realistic feeling.
I also assume there might be laws that restrict the details movie makers can show in context of law enforcement operations and government spying.

As far as i understand it the characters are used like caricature puppets. I believe all comics that are a umbrella title are one contained canon (this is page 4/68 of a single comic). But the next comic under another title may impose something entirely different using the same characters.
They are also much darker and critical.

The fact is that governments have always (amongst other things) been rooted in a centralized resource and population control. The big problem as i would call it is that the emergent complexity of global politics makes the dynamics so complex not a single person, not even a president is capable of knowing more then the micro-environment they exist within. This is precisely why states feel a need to create extensive bureaucracies and specialized agencies which historically have a tendency to evolve into centralized powered structures themselves and power always corrupts.
