If you need it precise and adjustable use 2 layers and concentrate them with the alignment tool.

Using the official dock? Most of my problems were solved by updating the firmware. That does NOT happen automatically via the regular Steam Decker updates btw, need to trigger it yourself.

Nice gradients. Together with the limited color palette it reminds me of illustrations from Sci-fi story prints I read as a kid.

What did you use for the vertical stripes? Pixel sort? A special brush? Overlayed another image? Looks great either way!

Would it theoretically be possible to replace the base image with a different one (of same dimensions)? Basically like a template file where you store a bunch of modifications, filters, etc that can be applied to any image…

I sometimes manually clean up scanned documents and if there’s many pages I would love to apply the work done on one page to subsequent ones. If it doesn’t look good the try only took a couple of seconds.

So if I understand non-destructive editing correctly GIMP will store a sequence of transformation instructions (basically 1 for each undo/redo operation) rather than overwriting the actual pixels each time? Ie no matter how much editing you do, the original input data is always preserved?

I’m guessing this part of the map uses the actual surface topography, ie how precipitation would run off through the troughs of the dunes, rather than the underlying aquifer structure. Hmmm 🧐.
