If someone asked for EU-based alternatives to a computer or phone they already owned, I would make suggestions based on my knowledge of the quality and performance of the products without giving any special consideration to the brand. I do absolutely consider all computers to be alternatives to each other and all phones to be alternatives to each other within this context. Finding a product that meets one individual’s specific needs is outside the scope of a chart like this, I think.

In my experience, many people who don’t like or want kids choose to have them for other reasons: family pressure, trying to improve a romantic relationship, feeling like it’s the next step in life, etc. The children born as a result spend the rest of their lives with parents who don’t or can’t meet their emotional and/or physical needs. To me, that’s deeply morally wrong.

Yep, that is what I did. It just seems ironic that a company that sells the service of protecting your privacy wants to violate your privacy in order to do it.

You can set your phone to do that, of course, but I prefer not to have to unlock mine when I’ve just used it.

I don’t want people posting just to make a number go up. If you don’t have anything you want to say, don’t post. If you don’t feel motivated to engage, that’s fine. Just lurk, or log off and do something else.

I use Paranoid’s Pal, a similar app. It’s great. In addition to locking in response to motion, I have it set to automatically lock the phone a few minutes after the screen turns off.

I don’t have kids because I’ve never especially liked them, and I think it’s morally wrong to have kids if you don’t like or want them.

Maybe start using tor or i2p. You can use Lemmy over tor, for sure.

The Arch Wiki is very in-depth and helpful even though it doesn’t always apply 100% to other distros. Stack Exchange is also helpful, as well as forums such as linuxquestions.org.

Or tor, if you need a solution that doesn’t cost anything.
