Thanks, I knew the art, but never bothered to make a note of the artist.

scrion@lemmy.worldto Woodworking@lemmy.ca•My dad's latest project. He's 98. Used a scroll saw and drill.11·1 day agoThanks for making that comment. I recently thought the exact same thing, started a post but then deleted it, because “the internet” and all.
But the feeling was just about the same: I wanted to start a conversation with people that care about similar things as I do. It’s good to see that it happens.
Regarding scroll saws: I recently found a Proxxon DS230 on a thrift haul. Don’t bother with that model, it sucks. Now I’m in that weird spot where a potential new activity / “fab method” might have been ruined by a shoddy tool.
Hey you, just came by to say I applaud that approach. Verbosity and transparency is where it’s at when it comes to moderation.

Context: if you crash at WH after a long night out, you’re guaranteed to witness some drunken fighting.
Man, I’d love a Waffle House stage.

Why did you post this exact, inane comment in two threads?
Yes, same here. As I said, it was quite interesting and I did it for the same reason, to combine interests.
Sure. It’s just that I determined the same effect could be achieved by a preprogrammed cycle of ventilation and misting - no closed loop needed, as the conditions in the cultivation chamber do not vary enough to warrant the setup.
Funny enough, I also used Sensirion sensors for mushroom cultivation, even had a mobile dashboard using MQTT dash.
After a couple of years, I went back to basic “gardening” to focus on the essentials, but it was interesting for a while. Unless going commercial, I do not consider the sensors to have added significant value beyond providing an interesting side project.
It might also be the other way around. There are plenty of people who are really introverted, so social engagement still drains their energy, but while it’s happening, they can be/appear extroverted, charming, outgoing, sometimes at exponential extra cost.
The difference between intro- and extraversion is not simply the ability of a person to talk to others, their (perceived) “shyness” etc., but also encompasses how they regenerate, what and how much stimulation they prefer and what kind of company they need and enjoy.

scrion@lemmy.worldto World News@lemmy.world•Ultra-processed food increases risk of early death, international study findsEnglish6·19 days agoNo, it’s not. This refers to pre-packaged bread, e. g. white bread, toast etc. - the stuff you find in a supermarket shelf, full of preservatives and other additives.
She could also have been the mechanic for e. g. a university racing team, plenty of those around. Doesn’t mean knowing anyone certified to do the job.
scrion@lemmy.worldto Food Crimes - Offenses against nutrition@midwest.social•SpaghettiEnglish4·21 days agoDon’t get me wrong, the spaghetti in OP’s picture definitely look soaked and not very appetizing. But the weird benefits I mentioned can be achieved otherwise.
scrion@lemmy.worldto Food Crimes - Offenses against nutrition@midwest.social•SpaghettiEnglish67·21 days agoI have absolutely done that in the past, and I would do it again in a heartbeat. I can slice off exactly how much I want, getting a good feeling for the portion size. The noodles stick together, there is no unfurling and subsequent mess when transferring them to a dish. They’ll loosen up a bit when heated, but stick together enough to offer a superior eating experience - just cut a piece off and consume.
Do you grow them in a regular myco bag and mist them, or do you have another setup?

Major upgrade over whatever this abomination is (not talking about the replacement head, I get that). Get the triangular one with the short nubs.
The plant itself is not poisonous to humans or pets:

https://www.aspca.org/pet-care/animal-poison-control/toxic-and-non-toxic-plants/chlorophytum
I checked a reliable German source as well, since I happen to speak that, and it’s definitely not poisonous:
(Gruenlilie is the common German name of the plant, ungiftig simply means not poisonous)
Also, here is a study researching the nutritional values of the plant (among others):

You will also find social media posts of people having tasted the roots / leaves. I won’t include those, but I’d conclude that while you can eat the plant, it probably won’t be a culinary revelation.
