I think a lot of people, including myself would like for public transport to be so good that people chose public transport whenever possible. I live opposite a school and most parents that drive their children to school absolutely don’t need to, so a world without that would be optimal. But there’s always going to be edge cases that require supporting.

Funnily enough, I just got back from my daily walk and while strolling, there was an aged car spewing black smoke. It’s things like that why, though it’s only a stop gap solution, I support stop gap solutions like this. Get old trash off the road.

  • This is the correct answer. It’s not even about rural areas. Yes public transport should be improved. Half of the borough I live in doesn’t have access to Lime bikes and I can’t fathom why, I would love to use them to get to and from the stations. But as a full-time carer, I know riding a bike or getting a bus or a train isn’t feasible for my mum. So I will always support initiatives that make her life easier while not making everyone else’s shitter. Too many people aspire for some utopia without considering the impact on those less able-bodied.
