  • Out of curiosity, I just checked that cesspool that calls itself a Lemmy server after 1000 years of not giving a fuck (I mean, I likely checked it seldomly lately as well, but not as thoroughly as going through multiple pages and posts). Here’s what I found:

    • Typical commie propaganda (I’m not going to go into details)
    • So much US-centrism. Of course, there was some user from Poland (some will know who am I talking about) that admitted somewhere that in Poland there are multiple parties, but, just like for any serious tankie, those parties cannot be anything else than fascist. So no other party than the all mighty “single pluralistic” Communist Party (whatever that shit even means) like there somehow is in China is good. All of them are fascist.
    • Being from the US, you’d think they treat the current situation in their country in a mature way, pointing out the actual fascist from the White House - while this happens in, like, a bunch of their posts, mostly, if you think this way, you’re DEAD WRONG. They spend most of their energy pointing out how bLuE aNd ReD aRe ThE sAmE and how oBaMa aLsO dId X sHiT tHaT tRuMp DiD aNd YoU tHe LiBs WeRe OkAy WiTh ThAt (oh, and not to mention the meme about how the No Kings protests are actually a CIA psyop or some shit. Yeah, if you go out and protest for a cause is not because you’re fed up with all that shit you see in your daily life, it’s because the intelligence told you so).
    • When they actually do speak about what’s going on, they point out how imperialistic the US of A is and always was. Somehow, China and Russia were never imperialistic. But USA is the alpha and omega of imperialism (okay, they probably also bring up the former imperialistic powers of UK and/or France in other threads, but I didn’t check them, and it’s late here - let’s just assume there is something about this as tankie propaganda also likes to bring this up). Yeah, what happens now with the US is borderline imperialism (threatening Canada and Greenland and Panama with invasion). But stretching it so far and thin like they do is just crazy.
    • They laugh at you when you bring them sources to support your claim - reputable sources. But all they bring to support their own claims are recycling memes that they thought they’re funny a few days ago - and somehow Dessalines points you to his blog/website/whatever - not even trying to bring up their own propaganda mouthpieces into discussion. Yeah, bro, I’ll trust you (I’ll probably even make a meme about it these days if I care enough about it).
    • Their entire meme community is tankie propaganda. I tried being sympathetic to them and tried to view the memes from their own perspective, but I couldn’t bring more than a smug on my face. Oh well, maybe these crack them up. Good for them, I guess.

In conclusion: it’s fucking late. I spent some precious time doing nothing and learning nothing from their bullshit (and also typing this entire thing). I would like Dessalines to point me out on his website thingy how can I get my wasted time back. Thank you.

  • Hello from Friendica.

How do you feel the platform performs compared to corporate ones?

As a user, I think it still has some way to go to reach parity with Facebook, and some features likely could be impossible to implement as they require tracking and gathering user data en-masse (imo). But it still got a thing or two in its sleeves, and those things also keep me here too, besides the federation, freedom and privacy ones.

For example, I just discovered I can send my posts on email as well to whatever person I want, which makes the whole thing highly usable even if people aren’t there.

There are some bugs that might put people off, and Friendica as a platform might seem to have a higher learning curve too (I really got into it after watching some videos on yt), but this is with all the Fediverse platforms I guess? idk

How do you feel moderation is handled?

I never did moderation for it.

Do you believe the people of Beehaw (admins, moderators and users) could do a better job? If so, then why?

    I don’t know tbh 😁

I think UI wise, as being an alternative to Facebook, Friendica is possibly the best Fediverse platform out there, not only are the features and the capabilities (text formatting pretty much everywhere, a calendar with events, RSS feeds straight into your main feed, plugin options etc.), but it just makes it easier to tell if a post that I’m seeing is a top-level or just a comment, if it’s from a group or just posted by a person etc.

My advice would be to try it and see what it is up to. The admin of lemmy.world (and also mastodon.world) also set up an instance on friendica.world, and it quickly became pretty much the no. 1 Friendica instance. 😁

Plus, the devs of the platform are very open to suggestions and provide very comprehensive reasons if they reject a certain feature request.
