Days are defined by a different natural cycle, that of the earth’s rotation around its axis. That happens 365.2422 times every time we go around the sun. You can’t just assign the length of a day to something more convenient

Thanks, I’ll check that out. A big part of what I liked about your calendar is the direct correlation to a natural cycle though, and I like the idea of solar noon for the same reasons. The idea isn’t to constrain nature but acknowledge it and adapt ourselves, centering days on the sun’s zenith at ones location just makes intuitive sense to me and lines up with my own perception of time when disconnected from infrastructure. Completely useless and impractical computationally, but very well aligned with a human sense of place in both time and space
I would go as far as to say no single chemical is “the problem” and that entire perspective is brutally reductionist. There are so many problems with the way we’re living, pinning the blame on the existence of temporary escape is so backwards and cruel it’s hard for me to imagine what makes someone think that way. “TrickDacy” is really showing their whole ass here
Just wanted to say this was an insightful and empathetic post from someone who clearly has a lot more direct experience than the guy going off about heroin itself chemically ruining lives
Excellent calendar idea, excellent post. What do you think about using solar noon instead of time zones?

This might be a helpful starting point :)

I use it enough to resent you recommending it on the basis that seeding isn’t mandatory. This is why we can’t have nice things
Posting to frown on this, do the kids these days not have any concept or reciprocity? In what sick mentality is not having to give back a selling point?

23·6 days agoNot everything is propaganda man, using that argument against people’s directly observed comparisons and preferences kinda undermines the whole idea. I’ve got panels on the roof and an electric chainsaw, propane is still the best fit for my stove. I’ve got wood, diesel, and electric heat, all of which have their season. It’s easy to get blindly optimistic about exciting new tech (electric cars are probably the biggest one here) but nothing is universally applicable and you need to have some faith that your fellow man is an intelligent, thinking being trying to navigate this world just like you

The “practical reason” is to distance themselves from the rep they’ve earned as slop-pushing privacy-invading child-abusing culture-destroying ghouls. Why would you go along with that?

In the most literal sense possible, there’s nothing empathetic about being unable to understand or relate to experiences distant from your own. I’m not going to join in trying to share insight into the interplay of poverty, escapism, and addiction when you so clearly don’t give a shit. Happy new year man.
