Hi, I’m Joel.

I’m a Brazilian computer nerd who loves Unix, programming, and Open Source.

Professionally, I’m a full-stack web engineer, mostly building apps with Elixir, React, TypeScript, and Postgres.

Programming is also a hobby – and I’m currently studying the LISP dialects Clojure and Janet, and SQLite as an alternative to client-server databases (like Postgres itself) for small and medium projects.

I’m heavily involved in the Open Source community. Today, I am involved in the following OSS communities:

- Founder and Community Manager of Elug CE
- Community Co-Manager of GURU-CE

I’ve also been involved in other communities in the past decade, including CEPUG, Drupal CE, HoraExtraJP, and GrudePB.

If we’re talking about code contributions, I’ve done some small ones in the past. Notably, to projects like Drupal (the CMS) and Atom (the code editor, sunsetted by Microsoft). Now my attention has shifted to the Elixir ecosystem, where I’m mostly active today.
