Money has value because it represents power to get someone to do what you want. When fiat currency, then precious metals and jewels lose the ability to get shit done there will be food and water as the remaining currency. In the US there will also be bullets and guns to become fiat currency.

I’ve never used Apple intelligence and Siri alone has done a fine job for unit conversions, info lookups, and most any other things. No need to fire up chat GPT for those basic uses

I don’t think it ever did. It does qualify you for legal residency status, resident alien or “green card” as most people refer to it. I’m pretty sure that status can be voided if you did anything illegal along the way. For citizen status you still have to go through the process.

In 21 you could have gotten some of the first Ford Mustang MachEs to come off the line, if you were lucky. Chevy was doing ok with the bolt, but I’ve never personally liked the style of the bolt. Leafs were another OK model specifically for commuting, but IIRC Kelly lives in Tucson and if he was making regular trips to Phoenix a leaf wouldn’t have cut it. Polestar was available, but relatively unknown. And I think a few luxury brands had EVs at that point. So yes there were other EV players, but “strong” is a subjective term, unless you were doing a fair amount of research you likely wouldn’t have known about them.

I think my current job was, but that was 6 years ago, and maybe it was just applied through linked in and not “easy apply” I’ve definitely got a few call backs and interviews from easy apply jobs, but when it’s a remote job I know I’m one of hundreds applying and don’t have high expectations.

It does disqualify you from some. Even my company, that is entirely remote, doesn’t allow for Hawaiian ( and a few other states) residents for some tax reasons.

If you have close friends or family on the mainland, try using their address for remote work applications and see if that gets your foot in the door.

I believe this is one of those things where intent matters, and may vary by location. I’m a web applications developer…. So a lot. But here’s the king of dumb shit fixes I’ve done. Back in the days of VGA a few friends and I met up with some other dudes for a counter strike LAN party. Everyone’s hauling their towers in and if you were lucky, your heavy as fuck 17” CRT. So I set up and my monitor won’t work. Has power, no signal. Switch from the gpu vga port to the integrated one and it works. Switch back to gpu and it works as long as I hold it in a weird position. So it’s all fine, just the connection is wearing out. For some reason I figure a little moisture will help so I lick the vga plug, reattach it and it totally solved the problem.

So yeah, I licked a gpu into working again.

Tanking Tesla stock costs Musk a lot. Trashing unsold teslas means Tesla makes a lot of insurance claims. Short term that’s as good as a sale, well not really, the insurance only pays the replacement value which is less than the sell value, so it hurts their profits a bit, but it reduces stock and that does help a little. But if there’s a pattern of Tesla dealerships getting entire fleets destroyed, their insurance rates go up, which hurts their profits a lot more. So they’ll raise prices and sell fewer cars, which hurts their entire business.

Once or twice, it’s no big deal for Tesla. If the pattern keeps up then of going to start to squeeze them.

Musk has been a toxic asset for Tesla for quite some time, even before recent DOGE shit. I’m not sure why they don’t remove him. I get that he has majority shares, but there are still mechanisms for removing him.

I have this weird habit of buying the less popular but arguably better thing. I went with windows phone, a nook instead of a kindle, an zune mp3 player, and a Mustang MachE instead of a Model Y. That last choice might have been the only one that ultimately paid off.

I think the majority of this is ATBGE. I believe except for a room or two that the previous owner was very happy with the way things looked. I just don’t think anyone else wants to live with those vibes and the cost of renovating that to something more generally appealing is going to be outrageous.
