The geographic diversity of my genetics stretches from England to Scotland. Guess I’m a product of “good immigrants.” Therefore I won’t be demonized for who I was born, they’ll have to demonize what I’ve learned and who I am.

Please let this actually get cut from the bill (not to say there isn’t plenty more that’s fucked in there.) Also fuck his characterization of what we wouldn’t sell. Makes it sound like no big deal but he conveniently left national forests off that list.
Done? Now you get to memorize tree species and become “that guy who measures the trees.”
hash@slrpnk.netto Fuck Cars@lemmy.world•This change just happened in Lille, FranceEnglish723·19 days agoSure, but if you choose to be reactionary rather than understanding you’ll often be in the wrong. My city has some new bike paths where it’s easy to accidentally wind up walking on the bike paths. We are still in a state where many conflicts are due to infrastructure. Are we trying to build better streets for everyone or are we just gonna shift from cars to cyclists owning the streets? When I bike my first thought after safety is being considerate and understanding, not demanding.
hash@slrpnk.netto Fuck Cars@lemmy.world•This change just happened in Lille, FranceEnglish2538·19 days agoI think many cyclists refuse to acknowledge how much they carry over from car brains. Minor inconveniences should be common and expected. Some bikers react to someone jogging on a bike path as if their life were threatened. Save the anger for legitimately dangerous situations like sprinting into the lane without looking or excessive speed.

What we need are makerspace-backed hyperlocal recycling projects. A much more expensive but much more effective method to recycle the same PET bottle would involve a plastic shredder and proper filament extruder. And old 3D prints? Sort them by color and material, they can go through the exact same process. Pulltruders can still be a useful tool, but more for education and spreading awareness than a practical source for filament.

I would suspect some sort of scheme bringing cans from a neighboring state or whatever without a deposit. Just one more reason to wish for a national deposit program in the US.

We collected enough signatures opposing to get an item on the ballot in 2026. The fight definitely isn’t over but I’m proud that we’re successfully fighting back in a state as red as this.

It massively frustrates me when people point to corporations “carbon footprint” campaigns and argue that all the change needs to come from them. They hold massive blame, but if you let yourself imagine it’s only corporations fault you won’t be prepared to make changes when they’re necessary.
100% Particularly with new phone sized ereaders. I carry my whole library in my pocket whenever I leave home, plus the ability to grab a copy of whatever on the fly. If I have a backpack that day I might throw a physical copy in, but I’ll have my ebooks no matter what.
hash@slrpnk.netto Fuck Cars@lemmy.ml•Would you consider this an expensive bike share?English2·1 month agoMy local bike share is a screaming deal. No upcharge for electric bikes. 3 dollars for a single trip, 20 dollars for a month pass, or 75 for a year. Yet I still see people on those overpriced rental scooters as if they aren’t just a tourist attraction at this point.
hash@slrpnk.netto collapse of the old society@slrpnk.net•Sea level rise will cause ‘catastrophic inland migration’, scientists warnEnglish6·1 month agoClimate flight on the coasts will push people inward to landlocked locations. Many of which are experiencing ongoing drought and other issues sourced from humanity’s dominance over the planet. The coming age of tragedy will be an interconnected web of human fault and failures. Among the battles we must win for a better tomorrow is the fight against nationalism. Migration will be a key element of protecting the vulnerable from climate disaster. We cannot afford to abandon or write off our neighbors.
So that’s why every stargate planet looks like Canada
Cool. Lemme just paint the ceiling with my brains so I can approximate what it was like when I wasn’t around.
