el_abuelo@programming.devto Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•People have private conversations on speaker phone but if I join in then I'm the crazy one19·7 days agoThe other day a dude was using his phone on speaker in the gym. Just sat there on the machine casually having a conversation on the phone and not doing a whole lot of working out.
I asked him if he could use the phone normally and made the “hand to face” gesture and he just mumbled a “yeah” and took it off speaker.
Now if he had considered my request outlandish, presumably there would have been a little friction in this exchange? But no…he knew exactly what he was doing, why it was annoying, and immediately how to remedy it.
Why the fuck are people using speakerphone instead of the God damn normal speaker to have their conversations? They know it’s annoying.

But what if you could make your current one fast and secure again?English2·14 days agoThank you that’s very helpful! I’m pretty handy with software so not troubled by that, but I am lazy outside of work so I’ll likely follow your envision advice! But still sounds like a fair bit to do so I suspect I’ll kick it down the road till WMR finally goes.
Thanks again!

el_abuelo@programming.devto Meta (lemm.ee)@lemm.ee•Please consider supporting Lemmy development4·18 days agoThank you. No sources required, and I already try to do those things…hence my questions! I hope that my questions don’t cause harm, if they do I would like to find a way to learn without harming.
If they had said “biological male” then this would be okay? Sounds equally as hurtful to me…what is the correct term use? Trans woman?
The only thing I see them denying is that the same group of people spreading trans rights are also the ones spreading transphobia…which sounds logical to me?
I appreciate that this sounds like I’m defending them but I’m really not, I suspect from what’s said in this thread that they have a storied history of being hurtful on this topic which i think is indefensible. But I am out the loop and have very little idea who this person is.

I have a Reverb G2 and if I can play Elite and DCS on Linux I’m basically sold at this point.
I really want a new headset but nothing beats the G2 right now, without giving money to Meta which I refuse to do.

Genuinely asking as to my ignorant eyes this looks like a reasonable way of discussing the issues, so I must have some kind of wrongthink here and would love to be guided back to a place where people can discuss opposing views safely.
Lists are also very handy!
