You know ready player one wasn’t a book about a hopeful future? I’m not sure why we continuously try and build dystopian hellacapes…

Lazy and cheap.

The worst part to me is that so many companies use third parties to process parts of things that it’s like you give data to one company and they give your data to like 10 other companies and before you know it your information has been breached multiple times over from the same starting point.

I have seen such half assed stuff in my career that I am terrified at trusting companies to do this stuff. This is even before the vibe coding. Now that I see how companies mine and others are using AI I am even more concerned than ever.

I just imagine the first places that put in in-door lightnig like “here now you can work later in the day” now they will be like “Oh look you can work 24/7 now it’s never dark anymore”.

I don’t know why people are so obsessed with water. Just move on with your life.

Okay I had to think on this one a while. It seems like their community is microscopic. There really is barely anything there. The stuff that is there isn’t even really offensive or objectionable just conservative. I do get what people are saying that we need to fight facism everywhere but I tend to err on the side of more speech unless I see evidence of harm coming from a community so I will vote nay but I also don’t think there is going to be any loss if people to vote to ban it as there is nearly no posts on there or discussions.

Thankfully libreoffice

Oh a big problem!? Like what exactly? What are going to do against a group of people who laugh at the supreme court and dont follow court orders? All they can do is send a strongly worded letter and say “Shame shame”. We are already a dictatorship these other branches have no power other than for optics.

I wish this were true but its already been debunked. It came from a satirical account. It was meant as a joke.
at least in the USA based on my discussions with librarians ( yes I am that kind of nerd ) libraries are under attack by the federal government, they are losing their funding or having their funding severely limited where they won’t be able to operate as effectively. What I think people don’t realize is we are in a phase where knowledge is being centralized and put into control of a few powerful companies and the commons is under attack and being eroded.
right but I am thinking of a future a few years down the road where people are doing less and less of that and wikipedia gets eroded or is also filled with generated articles. Wikipedia is already under attack by people like Elon Musk so if we are not careful resources like wikipedia won’t exist.

God I hate that you are right. I only have like one male friend because I legit had to distance myself from ao many other male friends who were just horrible people and I couldn’t stand to listen to them anymore.
I thought this was going to be a 5 years later we are married and she thinks I like poop story

They can read they only like when they agree with the constitution otherwise they ignore it.

Sounds cool Paula… Please shut the fuck up then.

So good. I hope investors keep buying and it just keeps failing and they all just lose a shit ton of money.
I know there is lots of guides and things because for clicks people like to write guides. However all the defaults on mint are sensible. You can pretty much install is stock and be done. You can use these guides if you want but they are optional. You can use flatpak, .deb, snap or whatever else you want to install things. I tend to use .debs when available and flatpaks as my backup. As a Linux user I haven’t had to do all that much tweaking in years to be honest.
