Let’s be honest: No country would act different from Israel when facing a situation as with Gaza. No country could tolerate an attack like Oct 7th on its territory, esp with everything that happened before with all the rocket and suicide attacks. Just think about how the Americans reacted to 9/11. They started bombing Afghanistan and Iraq even if both countries really didn’t have much to do with 9/11. In this case it would be a scenario like “9/11 was done by a narco cartel in a small part of Mexico where central authority lost control” or something like that.

Combine it with the fact that all western states have no sympathies for islamist extremists like Hamas, because they are not muslim and also because most western states suffered from islamist attacks. Most states also see Hamas (an Hezbollah) as an Iranian proxy militia (which they are) and have also no sympathies to Iran, its theocratic dictatorship, its nuclear program and its military alliance with Russia.

This is a great example why we should be really careful discussing history here. Yes, the Nakba did happen. But what did happen before the Nakba? The arab attack on Israel right after it was founded. What did happen before that? The arab revolt from 1936-1939. What did happen after the Nakba? The deportation of Jews from nearly all arab countries. What did happen after that? Several wars, intifadas, terror acts from both sides and so on. There can’t be peace when you use history like that. Both sides can point to atrocities of the other side and continue fighting - to take your words, palestinians were killing Jews even before Israel was founded and Israel was attacked several times with a clear genocidal intention and there are people living in Israel who were ethnical cleansed out of arab states.

Aber wirklich hart ist dann der Vergleich zum eigenen Solar auf dem Dach. Irgendwann kommt bei uns auch das Elektroauto und dann hätte ich das heute problemlos vollladen können für 8,3 Cent/kWh, die ich dann nicht als Einspeisevergütung bekommen hätte. Macht bei 15kWh/100km dann 1,24€ oder halt einfach mal ein Zehntel der Kosten dieser Ladesäulen.

Ich bin da mittlerweile auch arg angepisst: Wir haben ein eigentlich hartes Datenschutzrecht. Datenschutz macht diverse Dinge schwieriger und komplizierter, was ja auch eigentlich vollkommen ok ist. Aber dann gibt es im Kindergarten riesige Sorgen, ob man denn die Bilder vom Sommerfest per Mail verschicken kann und Rechtsunsicherheiten im Sportverein, aber auf der anderen Seite kann ein Facebook völlig ungehindert agieren, die großen Medienseiten per Klick alle Daten an hunderte “Partner” verteilen und solche Verfahren wie hier dauern siebenhundert Jahre.

Doing military sabotage in european countries will not help the palestinian cause. That will cause a totally justified crackdown as no government in the world can and will tolerate radical militants who are sabotaging it’s own military in times of global crisis. I’m also not sure if such acts really are helpful at disproving the popular resentment that all palestinians are radical islamists, terrorists or in bed with hamas.

It’s totally insane what is happening here. A drug dealer and criminal gets a presidential pardon (!) and then receives millions of dollars from dark sources and it somehow is ok for Americans?

But beyond the ethical implications of the photo, it’s most likely generating so much interest across the web right now because it’s a rare peek at what actual people are doing with ChatGPT. The defining question of our current transition from the social media era, where everyone assumed they knew — and could judge — what everyone else was doing, to the AI era, where no one has any idea what anyone is doing. A paranoia that is only getting more intense as AI services become better and cheaper and more ubiquitous (we think). Was the new Always Sunny In Philadelphia poster secretly AI generated? What about OpenAI’s most recent announcement? Are the texts we’re sending our friends being fed into ChatGPT to be analyzed? Are our doctors pulling it up to diagnose us? We just don’t know. And you can roll your eyes at all of this. You can look at that photo of the man on the subway and just see narcissism. But scoffing at it doesn’t make it any less real or any less of a genuine emerging social problem. Last October, a teenager killed himself after a chatbot roleplaying as Daenerys from Game Of Thrones allegedly told him they could finally meet in the afterlife. And earlier this year, a chatbot named Erin, run by a company called Nomi, gave a user explicit instructions for killing himself, down to the pills he would have to take (he didn’t go through with it). According to a recent report from The Washington Post, users are spending an average of 93 minutes a day talking to companion AI services like Character.ai. “That’s 18 minutes longer than the average user spent on TikTok. And it’s nearly eight times longer than the average user spent on ChatGPT,” The Post wrote. Which is all to say that people are spending hours a day talking to chatbots in ways as vast and complicated as human beings are capable of being. We don’t actually know what the prompt the man on the subway was using to get ChatGPT to offer putting his head on its “metaphorical lap.” Could be that he’s talking to it like a lover or it could be something even more intimate and unfit for public consumption. It doesn’t really matter. What does matter is that people are using AI in far more personal ways than they ever did social media. And the companies that run these services will only ever do the bare minimum to protect us. Character.ai and Google, who invested heavily in the company, have both said that they’re taking a “cautious and responsible approach” to their AI services. And the company, Nomi, who ran the aforementioned murderous Erin bot, told reporters they don’t want to censor their AI. Certain states in the US are trying to regulate these services, but we know how that goes. And so, yeah, here’s this new technology that has been dropped out of the sky on us. We have no way of controlling it, and normal people are using it, people who don’t spend all day online fighting about what it means for the environment, for creative industries, for politics. They’re downloading these apps, letting them worm their way into their lives, with no real thought to where this all is all heading. Which, unfortunately, just leaves us to look after each other while we figure this all out.

Das macht schon Sinn, wenn du drüber nachdenkst: Die Schülertickets gibt es ja, damit Kinder, die weiter von der Schule entfernt wohnen, dort irgendwie hin kommen und nicht morgens zig Kilometer durch die Gegend laufen müssen. Diese Tickets sind subventioniert bzw. kostenlos. Die Kosten dafür sind auch enorm, da zahlen die Länder diverse Millionen für. Daher macht es auch Sinn, dass die verantwortlichen Stellen hier sparsam sind und halt nur Tickets für den kostenlosen Transport zur Schule für Zeiträume ausgeben, in denen überhaupt Schule stattfindet. Bei 12 Wochen Ferien im Jahr kommen da nämlich enorme Kostenersparnisse zusammen, wenn man nicht für eine nicht benötigte Transportleistung zahlt.

Das Deutschlandticket killt diese Sache natürlich etwas: Klassisch war es damals immer so, dass die Fahrschüler mit ihrem Ticket auch nur vom Wohn- zum Schulort fahren konnten und je nach Kommune auch nur zu bestimmten Zeiten und nicht noch Samstag Nachts nach der Party. Das Deutschlandticket ändert das jetzt natürlich etwas, weil es natürlich höchst attraktiv ist in den Ferien damit durch die Gegend zu gondeln. Es ist jetzt aber gleichzeitig nicht wirklich einzusehen, dass der Steuerzahler irgendwelchen Kindern, jenseits von irgendeiner Sozialauswahl, eine Ferienbespaßung bezahlt nur auf Basis von ihrem Wohnort. Wir reden hier ja nicht davon, dass armen Kindern nichts gegönnt wird, sondern auch Kinder reicher Eltern können weiter von der Schule entfernt wohnen und Kinder ärmerer Eltern können näher an der Schule wohnen.

Der Witz mit DDR (Land) vs. DDR (Arbeitsspeicher) existiert schon seitdem es DDR (Arbeitsspeicher) gibt. Die hier präsentierte Variante mit “DDR2” ist ebenfalls existent seit 2003. Ich finde das gut. Klar, Fahrräder sind weniger gefährlich als Autos, aber wenn ein 80kg schwerer Typ dich mit 25km/h umbügelt, dann tut das arg weh. Und wenn du dann eine Knalltüte hast, der erstmal seinen Führerschein wegen Suff verloren hat (was schon eine Leistung ist) und dann mit dem Mofa unterwegs war und aufgefallen ist (was schon eine Leistung ist) und dann weiter schön Fahrrad fährt und dabei wegen Suff auffällt (was auch eine Leistung ist), dann willst du den echt nicht im Straßenverkehr.

Jetzt andersrum gefragt: Warum sollte jemand eine Arbeitsstelle annehmen, die ihm nicht die Existenz sichert, statt einer anderen? Und wenn es nur noch Arbeitsstellen gibt, die die Existenz nicht sichern, gehen dann alle vor die Hunde?

Es gibt zwei Arten von Aktivismus: Einerseits Aktivismus, um auf ein Problem aufmerksam zu machen. Das ist bei Gaza jetzt aber wirklich nicht nötig, da ist die Aufmerksamkeit bereits. Oder Aktivismus, der den Menschen wirklich hilft, aber das hier ist dann doch eher wenig hilfreich und lenkt eher ab. Dann geht es halt um diese Aktivisten, die da hinsegeln oder den Streit um die Hörsaalverwüstungen in Berlin und am Ende diskutieren wir darüber und nicht über das eigentliche Kernthema. Da kann Aktivismus auch ablenken

Ich will’s nicht wieder ewig durchdiskutieren, weil die Lage eh total verfahren ist. Ein Anderer wird dir sagen, dass das halt die logische Konsequenz ist, wenn sich in einem Gebiet eine Terrorgruppierung festsetzt, die ihre Nachbargebiete mit Terror überzieht, dass das Militär dann schaut, dass eben nicht fleißig Raketentechnologie etc. dorthin kommt. Das wird jedes Land dieser Welt so machen. Dann kommt Saleh und erzählt davon, dass ja Israel die Hamas aufgebaut und unterstützt hätte. Dann kommt wer anderes und erzählt vom israelischen Rückzug aus dem Gazastreifen, der dann ja eigentlich Frieden durch Aufgabe der Siedlungen bringen sollte. Oder nicht, wie dann Saleh sagen wird. Und dann geht das alles fruchtlos weiter. Das mache ich heute Abend nicht mehr, dieses Aufzählen und Aufrechnen von Ungerechtigkeiten bring keinen weiter. Alle Menschen dort in der Gegend könnten alleine vom Tourismus glücklich und zufrieden leben und tun es nicht. Egal, was wir hier schreiben, sie werden es nie

Ist zu klein und zu besiedelt und zu Wüste für wirklich produktive Landwirtschaft. Selbst wenn Israel von einem Tag auf den anderen nicht mehr da wäre, gäbe es diese Probleme
