George didn’t like the original Greedo footage they shot in London so they did reshoots in LA with George’s Assistant playing Greedo. I guess she liked her heels

The breaker, I would suspect, isn’t rated to protect that flimsy little cord this thing plugs into the wall with
Or Greedo’s heels
People to whom justice isn’t more than an aesthetic. I’ve seen people also turn being gay, or feminine, or poor, or overweight into an insult to hurl at people after making a point of being an ally
Billionaires are oppressors and exploiters, killers of the planet and the people alike, not sure why those can’t be the insults we use and we have to resort to thing that reinforce these social hierarchies

bestagon@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•why is it that the USA holds such power over the world now and not the UK who histrionically dominated most of it?3·21 days agoFun fact: Alaska was invaded a little bit by Japan during WW2. On Attu Americans suffered heavy casualties from the weather and basically all of the Japanese force was killed in battle. On Kiska there was a pretty bad skirmish between US and Canadian forces resulting from mistaken identity and a ship hit a stray seamine before they found out the island was abandoned anyway. So a real bad time all around but still not really affecting industrial wellness

That’s an interesting take. One on one side the death is a haphazard byproduct and on the other it is at least motivated by someone. Somebody has to have a vision for why these weapons need to be used. I’d argue though that in the case of Amazon, wether or not it’s of any priority to them, the suffering would be something worth ironing out over time whereas, for weapons companies, it’s the entire product they sell
Yeah but profiting off of starvation, homelessness or sickness is slightly less concerned with destroying human life efficiently, more so extracting value from suffering. Far harder to wiggle your way out of a bomb dropping on you. In that way, defense contractors are especially gross imo. I guess you could argue being blown apart may be more humane though idk
I think communities can just take care of each other. Bakers make bread, plumbers lay pipe, gardeners sow plants and those that love each other make sure they’re taken care of. You wouldn’t be able to be an asshole that just takes from the world around you because nobody would have a reason to make sure your water is running. Your time is compensated by a social contract
Capitalism doesn’t free us from any of that, community does. It’s standing on the shoulders of giants and advancing our understanding of the world that saves infants and puts food on tables. Not people who own the tools skimming off the top from the people that do the work
Unfortunately it really isn’t that profound. It exists everywhere and thinking you’re immune to being ruled by it is usually the first step in it proliferating
I volunteer as tribute

Or, to some extent, how ND kids are treated at any school. We weren’t physically abused where I went but it was obvious that we weren’t wanted. most of the kids like me I grew up with have already OD’d or killed themselves in adulthood
