  • this, exactly. That the communism site is being sold to the highest bidder is karma, just like the oppressive action of capitalism driving escapism into communism is.

the raw reality is that neither pure communism nor pure capitalism will work. It’s like saying “top-down architecture is better than peer-to-peer architecture,” or vice-versa. it’s foolish. the right architecture depends on the situation being addressed.

  • V.E. Schwab, the shades of magic series is exactly up your alley, sounds like.

there are multiple realms that only a few can cross over - different versions of earth, with only a few connection points that overlap.

at least one realm, Black London, has been locked away because of bad things happening in history. those become clear as the series moves on.

there’s another book that is kinda old, but involved some guy traveling through and ascending through multiple layers of reality, and his ultimate confrontation with the magic source… maybe Imajica by Clive Barker, but I’m not sure that’s the one (but very similar premise).

  • not familiar with the specific app you’re using. am I reading that right, that you’re throttling on power, current and temp?

if so, there’s not much you can do. but if it’s just temp throttling, you can get better fans/cooling.

if you’re already satisfied with fans/cooling, then yes, you’re pretty much using it to it’s max.

to be clear: throttling on power and current means you’re getting as much as you can out of the hardware you have (without over clocking or similar). although, make sure your CPU governor is ‘performance’.

throttling on temperature alone means you’re not getting the most out of you’re hardware that is technically possible, it means you’re hitting the thermal TDP of the system. for some systems (laptops, generally), there’s not much you can do there. but for others, you can tinker with cooling.
