As someone mentioned already, wait until actually signing the contract before moving. It is not “privileged” not to put the cart before the horse.

I just think the mindset is a left over from the colonial days when there was so much land to settle on, that building big is not an issue. The principle carried over to many other things, like having big possessions are seen as good.
Care to explain why you would think only the privileged are the ones who tend not to put the cart before the horse?
Edit: apologies, I skimmed read and was half asleep when I read the post. I did not realise that the person already signed the contract but was suddenly thrown under the bus.
I like to think the tides are slowly, but gradually, turning as more people realize how useless the democrats have been.
Yeah, I noticed it as well ever since Chuck Schumer rubber stamped the Republican budget bill-- which would disenfranchise millions of Americans from Medicare cuts-- without offering much resistance. Even some of the die-hard centrist Democrats here in Lemmy seem to sobering up as well. But hopefully my observation isn’t just contained in social media and my information circle, but the also throughout the US.
I approve of any leftist as long as they are anti-authoritarian.
so that it appears leftists are always fighting since they are all lumped into the same category.
I always say it is because the left in general has its roots in old school liberal value of “think for yourself”. So there typically tends to be maverick attitude and in-fighting. The best example is the Spanish Republicans during the Spanish Civil War; you have soc dems, communists and anarchists fighting together not just against fascists, but also themselves. The right, meanwhile value order and hierarchy, so they tend to easily set aside their differences. Again, the Spanish Civil War is the best example, with the Spanish Nationalists also composed of various factions with competing agenda, but managed to set aside their differences, which made it easier to do because they had a strong man figure to rally to.
I see your point but Facebook and Zuckerburg still got investigated for anti-trust a few weeks ago 🤣
Surely, this is now grounds for Google and Meta to be broken up as anti-trust?
But even so, Netflix still retain good sound quality compared to alternative sources.
but the humanities have a roll in creating well rounded and thoughtful people.
Definitely. I would have love do arts and humanities. But to be blunt, it would be hard to get a well paying job if one graduated with humanities degree.
Liberal arts and humanities initially started to provide well-rounded education to the privileged back then, to prepare and groom them as potential future leaders who need to be broadly knowledgeable and make well-informed and wise decision. And unfortunately that’s the key word there: privileged. Education was reserved for the privileged and those who could pay. However, from what I can see, as education became more available to the public, the arts and humanities education lost its goal. Education as a whole really became a way to indoctrinate and condition children and young people on how to be obedient workers in the current capitalist system. Doing homework and projects after school, is really training for young people to bring their work to home when they finally enter the workforce.
I definitely look at the file size first. Although, as you already alluded to, sometimes it gets cheated with the resolution being cropped to either the top or side. And a major issue with downloading large file sizes is if you are unlucky enough that there aren’t many seeders.
The only limitation on sailing the high seas is that the video and sound quality are not as great as legit streaming. You get descriptions that claim it is ripped full 4k or HD, but when actually looking at the encoding, it is not the case. But what can we do? If we are being made to stream in shit, it is better to sail in blue ocean high seas.
Could not have said it better. Lemmy is slowly turning into Reddit lately with dumb takes and the hive mind just upvotes.
I don’t disagree. Economic predicament is also exploited by capital owners to exploit workers no matter the race and ethnicity.
What’s with moronic comments I am seeing lately such as yours in Lemmy?
The people of Worcester, Massachusetts prove that the powers-that-be should not be feared.

AOC reminding Americans how to be brave. Penny auctions were a thing, which implied Americans used to be able to stand up to corrupt oligarchs and monied interests. Where is that solidarity and sentiment now? Do Americans need to be poor again altogether in order to rise up?
Liberal democracy is, well, liberal democracy. It doesn’t just mean capitalism.
Teflon found out and yet did nothing. That is willingly.
