I don’t think anyone thinks the gulags were great, left or right. Are you sincere or trying to make some kind of point?

Why would you viva the gulags?
I guess there is some cultural nuance - my impression is that for some people, sexual exclusivity is understood as an impossible virtue which it is important to appear to uphold, but where breaking it is kind of like sneaking a cigarette after having quit.
Which doesn’t make them untrustworthy necessarily, they just have a different understanding of how big of a deal it is.
SmoothOperator@lemmy.worldto Europe@feddit.org•Germany: Dozens injured at Berlin pro-Palestinian protestEnglish61·6 days agoI’d say symbols are a constant negotiation between meanings. The swastika is lost, but other symbols like Nordic runes are only fully lost if we surrender them. We must fight to insist on the meaning of the symbols not yet lost to evil.
“From the river to the sea; Palestine will be free.” This is the slogan I hear. I hear no violence in these words, only a call for freedom for all Palestinians in what used to be Palestine. I can’t help but think that the misunderstanding of this slogan is willful.
If this slogan is surrendered to evil, how long before the accusations start against the next slogan? Is waving a Palestinian flag the same as condoning terrorism? Is saying the word “genocide” an act of aggression against Israel? Shouldn’t we defend that when we call for freedom, we mean that and just that? And refuse those who would make such a simple call for freedom illegal and associated with evil?
We can be part of controlling the meaning of these things, not only evil can do that.

Part of freedom is to not relent when you are being told to shut up, to change your message, to obey. If you are fighting for the freedom of oppressed people and the cessation of violence against innocents, and the people hearing you say “stop saying that, say something else”, you don’t obey, you say it harder until they listen to what you’re actually, clearly stating: all people deserve freedom and a life without violence.

What small towns are you talking about specifically? There are definitely struggling places out there, in curious if we’re thinking of the same places.
Also what’s the issue with the prime minister drinking?
What was cool about Denmark 40 years ago?

Blue Prince får en kæmpe anbefaling herfra. Et herligt spil der både er chill, sjovt sådan øjeblik til øjeblik, og får en til at teoretisere benhårdt om hvad der mon foregår.

But how would you use the dipole to specify where you are? Isn’t the dipole the same everywhere? I’d think the dipole could possibly specify a fixed direction, but that’s hardly enough to specify a fixed point referencing only the CMB.
I understand that it is visible from all of space, but doesn’t it look the same from all points in space? Wouldn’t everyone looking at it simply conclude “I am at the center of the CMB”? How would you use it to specify a certain point?
Wouldn’t the conversations go like this?
Me: I’m about 2/3rds out the longest arm of my galaxy
Alien: OK
vs
Me: I’m at the place where the CMBR is evenly redshifted in all directions.
Alien: Huh, me too?
Use it how? I’ve never heard about this, and I can’t seem to find anything about it by searching
Why cosmic microwave background radiation? Is that any less arbitrary than e.g. the sun?

This is a major part of the Witcher games, that your actions have possibly unforeseen consequences that you’ll have to live with.
Accept that Triss has made her choice. If you don’t want to be with Yen, then don’t be with anyone, that’s completely fine.
American: I have been to Jutland! I love Jutland.
Visits Midtjylland only 🤡
Especially offensive if you are a Jut like moi. You motherfuckers come here and think Midtjylland is Denmark, yet entirely ignore the rest of Jutland and especially Vestjylland where the oldest viking town is, where Dronning Dagmar died, where witches were burned, where old fisheries and new energy tech stand side by side, where beautiful beaches are littered with crazy nazi bunkers, where you can go north and surf or go south and see the flattest fucking place in the world, walking across the Vadehav to a literal island at low tide.
But no no. mIdTjYlLaNd is Denmark. The one place in Jutland where no one speaks Jutlandic, lol.
