I love skewmorphism, personally, so I wouldn’t mind a return to that paradigm. If it was pixel art skewmorphism, ugh, I’d be in heaven.
“the 11th and 12th decks are specifically used to transport hydrogen and natural gas-fueled new energy vehicles.” The green LNG-fuel-powered vessel will be used to service European markets via the Cape of Good Hope route, as well as the China-Brazil route, “and other strategic pathways,” the manufacturer wrote.
Disappointing. From the headline, I thought the container ship itself was electric, like with an Iron Air Oxide battery as described in this article.
As it is, the article is basically just saying “Hey, this EV company got their own fossil fuel powered transport ship. And there’s some fossil fuel cars on a couple decks too! Cool huh?”
Also @Sunshine@lemmy.ca
Their military is in shambles. Satellite photos show their armored vehicle stockpiles are virtually empty, to the point where they’re sending some troops on suicide runs using ATV’s, golf carts, and motorcycles because they don’t have enough APC’s to spare.
They are in no shape to invade anyone besides ukraine.
The easiest method of transferring existing posts to a new instance is by migrating to a Piefed instance, which has a unique ability to create a backup of all previous content from a lemmy community.
One limitation is that the backed up previous content is only able to be seen from the piefed instance itself, it cannot be seen from outside lemmy instances (though people would still be able to go to this lemm.ee community from any other instance that was federated with it, as it will retain a local copy as well).
To create a new copy of the contents to another lemmy instance, I believe you would have to involve the use of an automated bot.
Wouldn’t it still be semi-effective in arid environments, as the breeze will help your sweat evaporate?
Hm, it should be. Are you not able to load the page, or does it still show the previous message about it being down for you?
Perhaps deleting the slrpnk.net cache/cookies in your browser might help?
The spicy memes must flow!
It’s possible to export your Subscriptions, Community/instance blocks, and saved posts/comments to an account on a different instance by exporting your account’s JSON file, which you can do in your Account Settings page.
You can then import the JSON file in that same area on your alternative backup account, so that your experience is uninterrupted. Personally I would recommend making a backup account on Sopuli.xyz or Lemmy.cafe, they’ll give you the most similar vibe due to how their instances are set up.
So happy to be home again ^^
Yes! We’re unexpectedly, but joyfully fully back up and running! 😄
poVoq will have a more detailed writeup on what happened at some point.
But it’s so, so damn nice to be back! ^^
Most of the downvotes came from off-instance accounts, so perhaps drive-by downvotes?
But it’s possible some of the downvotes are from people only reading the post body description “why i left the left the left the left”, which makes it seem like could be a right-wing video without watching it.
Just be sure not to talk to them >.>
I’ve never had a Manjaro install not break in the 4 times I’ve given it serious tries, all from updates. I could’ve avoided a few them by checking the forums first, but one was due to not updating for a couple months, which seem to set it up for failure when I did update.
I can’t imagine cursing a newbie with it.
In comparison, Linux Mint has virtually never given me trouble, even if left not updated for months.
I wouldn’t use it for an entire server, but It was an interesting experiment for that one community, IMHO. I think the lack of solid moderation tools on lemmy at the time influenced the motivation behind it.
Hm, that is odd. Unless OP deleted their more controversial posts/comments, they really ought not’ve been banned. Though perhaps their sparse activity is working against them in the bot’s eyes?
@auk@slrpnk.net, did Santabot glitch out in this case?
It seems to work fairly well overall. It weighs downvotes based on how reliable the downvoter is (to make it harder for people to artificially get someone banned), and will automatically remove the ban if you don’t continue to get downvoted a lot over the course of a month. Bear in mind it only effects bans from the Pleasant Politics community, and nowhere else.
The creator of Pleasant Politics made an automod bot that will preemptively ban someone if they receive a high ratio of downvotes anywhere on lemmy, not just in its own community. It’s to prevent bad actors and trolls from being able to post in there at all.
Notice the link in the ban reason of your screenshot, which explains what it is and how it works.
Organic Maps leadership became sus, so the community forked.

tl;dr they began to introduce proprietary code and were caught using project funds on personal expenses and vacations.
