The judgement isn’t about rewarding the plaintiff, but punishing the company. This wasn’t just hot liquid, but scalding hot liquid that caused hospitalization.
Similar to the McDonald’s case, Starbucks has had burn incidents in the past, and gotten fines but they kept serving scalding hot liquid. These big judgements are the only way to change their behavior.
Is it possible to remove those from the fediverse? My old community still shows up in a search if I type !neofetch , but the instance is long dead. That problem will only get worse as more instances die off.
That’s pretty cool. I’ve tried a few of the distills, but I’ve mostly gone back to regular models.
I’m ok with it. And to prove it, I just deleted my dead community. 😁
At the very least, you could start with communities that have 0 posts and 0 comments. If the mod doesn’t care enough to post something, why would anybody else?
Why is AMD comparing their 48Gb professional cards to Nvidia’s 24Gb gaming cards? They do know Nvidia makes 48Gb cards, don’t they? (the A5880 & A6000)
They specifically picked models which take up more than 24Gb VRAM, so the Nvidia cards would have to use system RAM. They did the same thing with their Strix Halo benchmark.
This is why no one takes AMD seriously in AI.
Not doing anything. Just buying more when I can. I sold during the dot com bust because I was young and stupid.
Since then, I’ve always just kept buying, and I’ve always come out ahead once the market recovered.
Good video. I wish the host would add chapters to his videos. 26 minutes is kind of a long video and it would be great if I could skip all the off topic stuff.
Anyway, the title is kind of misleading. It’s not really about monetizing as in making a profit. It’s about bringing in enough money for the instance admins to cover their costs - for the instance to be self sustaining without the admin paying out of pocket. That doesn’t have to involve ads.
So all the people drive-by downvoting just because you see the word monetize. Please stop.
Looks amazing! This would be a hit over on !ramen@lemmy.world.
Damn that’s true. I guess the only real solution is to break it up. Probably have a bigger impact than breaking up Standard Oil.
I own this on paperback, but haven’t read it yet. I’ve read The Time Ships(Stephen Baxter’s sequel) twice, but still haven’t gotten around to the OG. Shame on me.
Let’s face it, Nvidia doesn’t care if you buy a gaming card or not right now. You can complain, but they can’t hear you over their money counting machines.
Nvidia is only selling enough gaming cards to keep their market share from falling too low. All the rest of their silicon is allocated towards data center.
When the market is tanking, that seems like a good time to grab market share. AMD needs to stay the course, keep making affordable GPUs. Nvidia is practically leaving the door open for them.
People buying from scalpers are the problem. Guaranteed they’ll be the ones bitching about prices with every new release.
Personally, I don’t care if they go to 3 or 4 thousand. I’m not buying until they come down to MSRP.
That’s my hope for it, like people target for the “IBM” PC platform, but IBM got out of the business years ago. It’s better and more stable since they left.
Lol, my bad. I didn’t pick up on the satire in your comment. I guess I knew posting about Linux would be a shitstorm and I was mentally prepared for the worst.
I still have a CD somewhere with all the nude mods I’d collected. You gotta archive the important things.
It just means the developer posted the source code of their program for others to use. There’s nothing wrong with it. Id open sourced their Doom and Quake games back in the 90’s. Valve recently open sourced Team Fortress 2.
So you’re free to play around with the code and make changes, but if you want the full game with all the maps, you still have to buy a copy.
Disclaimer before anyone jumps on me, that’s just two examples. There are tons of different types of open sources licenses.
I’d check your motherboard manual first. Mine has a USB4 port, but the manual specifically says it only supports data/charging.
Dumb question here, but why shouldn’t I use it? Maybe I’m missing something in the article.
